Brooklyn Councilwoman Inna Vernikov received an unwanted kiss from a passerby during a television interview, a video posted on social media on Thursday night shows.
What the f---, the stunned Republican legislator can be seen saying the moment a man wearing a light blue newsboy hat comes within the frame to plant an unsolicited peck on her cheek.
The six-second clip posted by CBS reporter Hannah Kligers on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, shows the creep barely breaking stride and quickly taking off down the busy Brighton Beach business block as he looks back with a grin.
Vernikov did not return a request for comment, though she responded to the attack on X saying it wasnt the kind of love Id expect from constituents!

(37,535 posts)From a student.
One that I didn't like but who didn't know that from my behavior.
I understood this to be a gesture of appreciation from a student.
Should I have filed assault charges?
If for now other reason than if it had been recorded and misrepresented and that lie accepted I'd be fired and my license to teach revoked. At my age, good luck getting a job. Yes, a dozen other students were there, but at least one perspective cancelled them.
So, apparently, "yes." I should have filed harassment, maybe sexual assault charges against her--ruining her life as she graduated high school. Or at least reported it, for CYA value.
But contrary to autonomous-based and POMO-thinking, intent matters. My student wanted to show appreciation and "so long", nothing more--haven't seen her since, honestly, I've even forgotten her name.

(12,641 posts)Two decades and they said it was obvious I hated the little promotion.
The scary part. Some folks fantasize about the person lecturing in front of them. Disgusting, I know. But we must look past that. In some cultures gifts are given at the end of a semester. Hugging? What to do? I would say not to initiate or let it go past a brief one time event. Where you were you probably did not have power.
We went through Deans like something through a goose. So capitulation to angry parents was not possible. Also parents do not have to take a lie detector test and are way too placated.
Sometimes I was a little late getting to the next "complaint". Apparently they were pushing the startled Dean around. I introduced myself and asked the complainer about her age. 19, Have you filed FERPA waivers? No. So nothing said previously matters.
Pushy parents hate it when their kids are treated like young adults. Too bad high schools don't have an easy out.
I think you did the right thing.
This kissing bandit above (OP) needs to be caught.
