I chose Donald Trump because I thought he was better than Hillary Clinton, said Christie on his prior endorsement of Trump in 2016. And because I thought that I could make him a better candidate ... I was wrong. Thats it. Its that simple. I was wrong.
I dont regret it because I dont think Hillary Clinton would have been a whole lot better than Donald Trump. But today I have the guts to stand here and say what the truth is and nobody else on that stage is doing it.

How the hell do you say you were wrong in supporting trump in 2016 but don't regret it now after what that bastard has done to the nation?
That's what I call being so full of it it's coming out your mouth with what you say.
He doesn't know it but that remark just lost him credibility and some non-maga repblican primary votes.

I was willing to give you the TINIEST benefit of the doubt,, but that statement cancels that. You are EXACTLY the scum that I have always thought you were.
Rule 1 of being a Trumpster is to never, ever say anything negative about Trump.
Rule 2 is to never, ever say anything good about Hillary Clinton.
Christie-Kreem wants to shake off the Trumpsters, but still stay in the good graces of the GOP-ers.
It's a high-wire act, and his chances of slipping are just as high.

Yes, you were wrong. Very, very wrong. And your lack of regret in 2023 speaks volumes about you, your ability to learn, and your qualifications to be president.
What kind of Role Model does that make you?

of Trump, even though they are accurate, pretty much meaningless.
He admits he was wrong about being able to make Trump a better candidate. He should also admit he was wrong about Hillary not being a whole lot better than Trump. Even if she had only been a little bit better, that would have been a vast improvement, and she would have been way better than a little bit.

(9,979 posts)Christie has plenty to regret, beginning with very poor judgment back in 2016. He thought he could somehow make Trump better? What a friggin' joke!

(842 posts)he's probably the only person who will confront Trump even if Christie knows he's going to lose.
He prepped Trump on his debates, knows the corrupt family well, and was a prosecutor.
Maybe he'll open a door of weakness no one else has the guts to do, and we'll all be better off.
Can't see any other (R) winning then...

As if this somehow qualifies him for the Republican nomination in 2024.
He'll probably be crestfallen when he finds out that it doesn't.

(18,315 posts)Christie was tasked with playing Biden for a mock debate session, while Conway served as the moderator. According to the book, Giuliani was transfixed with Hunter Biden's business dealings in Ukraine, urging the president to attack Biden over the issue.
Posting this tidbit since they give a shoutout to du.
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie spent several days helping President Donald Trump prepare for the presidential debate. A quote attributed to the Republican politician that has since emerged offers one tip exploit Democratic presidential nominees stutter.
"People who overcome stuttering have a harder time maintaining their train of thought when interrupted," reads the statement thats circulating on social media. "Keep interrupting him and hell stumble when he tries to speak. This will enforce the senile narrative."
But Christie says he never said this.
Posts sharing the quote were flagged as part of Facebooks efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook.)
One post that shared the quote refers to a post in a forum on Democratic Underground as a source. In the forum, someone shared a screenshot of a grammatically problematic tweet that said: "VP Joe Biden has a speech impediment and Christie told Trump to interrupt him as much as possible, hoping Biden will be loose his cool."
