As a longtime fan of Tom Tomorrow TMW I've seen this idea before in his cartoons...

The lifeforms, tangentially related to the ostensibly “unidentified” flying objects recently declassified by the U.S. government, have been picking up network and cable news for years with their far-advanced technology that they promise they won’t use for evil intentions.
