The suspect involved in an active shooting situation in Pittsburgh's Garfield neighborhood is dead after a several-hour standoff, public safety officials confirmed early Wednesday evening
Action News Investigates identified the suspect as William Hardison. Court records show Wednesday morning that an eviction for Hardison was scheduled at the address on Broad Street in Garfield, which is the epicenter of the active shooter situation.
Action News Investigates learned that the home was owned by William Hardison's father, who sold the house to a company called 907 East Street. In May, the company filed a complaint to evict Hardison, but they say he refused to leave and also refused to pay rent for the past five months.
Last week, a judge granted a request by the property owner to evict Hardison and lock his belongings inside the house
Article indicates he had quite a few encounters with the legal system but always received probation.

And not having guns everywhere? That would have helped too.

(1,495 posts)that she and my son-in-law were safe. Then I asked her about the neighborhood the shooting took place in. As soon as she mentioned "up and coming," I figured that someone was being forced out of the neighborhood and probably had nowhere else to go.

(18,230 posts)the new owners had every right to evict him off their property.
Him opening fire on the cops was in every way wrong and he paid the ultimate price for his foolishness.

(19,035 posts)Thing to do. I can appreciate the position in which he found himself and did not reach out for help or no help was available.
