General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe media is creating Ramaswamy before our eyes - we're stuck with him from here on in.
They did the same thing with Trump back in the 1980s. Shoved him toward us and let him stay. No matter how smug, how rude, how many failures, how awful he was. They would not STFU about him.
From the NY Times:
"How Vivek Ramaswamy Broke Through: Big Swings With a Smile
With unchecked confidence and insults, the biotech entrepreneur baited his rivals into skirmishes that dominated Republicans first debate."
That is how we got Trump.

Haley can "pass," with her lighter complexion and American (thanks to marriage) surname, but Ramaswamy's looks and name make it impossible to ignore his south Asian heritage. You would think that those factors, along with his third strike of not even pretending to be any brand of Christian, would be major stumbling blocks for GOP voters.
However, as 45 showed us, sometimes there's no accounting for the voting choices of Republicans. Maybe Ramaswamy can make up for his "deficiencies" with pure meanness, (Hey, it worked for Trump!

(53,179 posts)Vivek Ramaswamy, the Republican presidential candidate who made a fortune in biotech, once was involved in a significant investment in a biotech company run by disgraced investor Martin Shkreli.
...
Ramaswamy wrote in Woke Inc. that when he first met Shkreli, he found him brilliant and that he was a little envious. Ramaswamy also criticized prosecutors who went after him, saying that the case was murky.
What was Martin Shkreli really guilty of? Ramaswamy wrote. Why did the DOJ go after him so hard, when it lets others quietly get away with much worse?
[W]hom did Shkreli hurt? The people he was convicted for defrauding all ended up richer. The people who used Daraprim didnt pay more for it; the cost was split up across the whole health insurance system.
But Ramaswamy didnt let Shkreli off the hook, either. In an interview, he condemned what Shkreli did in hiking the cost of his old companys drug and said it was wrong and hurtful.
Ramaswamy also criticized Shkreli in the book by saying he was literally incapable of distinguishing fact from fiction and even falsely told him that he had attended Columbia University but dropped out to go to Baruch College instead. Ramaswamy called Columbias admissions office to check that claim and they told him he hadnt been admitted.

(5,648 posts)And "birth certificate" means the original long-form state issued birth certificate with a raised seal, with two doctor signatures on it, verified as authentic by the State of Ohio, and original birth announcements from least two local newspapers. And I also heard he's "Brahmin," which is basically some kind of Muslim.
*This is sarcasm*
..but I'd love to see GOP twist themselves into a knot fighting off the same nonsense they used against Obama.

(10,988 posts)I recently read he has been on over 70 podcasts and podcast viewership is climbing as cable is declining. His interview on Tucker got 44.5 million views ( or impressions) and around 40 mill views on Rogan. He is basically all over the web like Robert Kennedy Jr. Both of them also have their own podcasts too.
With so many young Americans on Twitter, the Dems need to put someone out there to counteract
Tucker. Rachael would be great.
What is worrisome is that Tuckers interview with Trump is now the most watched interview of all time with 237 million views. Tucker has let it be known in the past, he didnt like Trump but Im sure he wanted to stick it to Fox with this interview.
The Dems need to get a big personality on Twitter to do interviews. Over 80 million Americans are on Twitter - most under 45 yrs old
