Chris Hayes pointed out something that has not really been digested.

Those convicted in the Georgia case will serve their time in Georgia. That might be a lump in the throat for some of them.

the mandatory sentence if found guilty can be served under house arrest, probation, in prison, or split between those. Other views had suggested it must be in prison.

And yes, there maybe intimidating "bubbas" in close proximity.

Their minimum security prisons are relatively nice but the medium and max security federal prisons are no joke. Maybe a smidge better than state prison but not by much.

When I was a young boy. I recall this old man that had been sent to prison in Atlanta for moonshining illegal whiskey. He said the warden would let him out of prison to go out in the woods and make some moonshine for the warden. He perfected his art in the penitentiary.

For multiple reasons: the sheer number of crimes he's been charged with across multiple jurisdictions; the fact prosecutors would not have charged him without overwhelming evidence of guilt; the fact prosecutors are taking a massive professional and personal risk by doing their jobs and thus opening themselves up to the wrath of Trump's cult, both inside and outside of government, so they will want to see a meaningful outcome from their personal sacrifice; and the fact that Trump himself admits nothing short of a jail cell is going to stop him from continuing to foment insurrection and attacking the foundations of our democracy.

The folks who predict probation or house arrest are done deals aren't reading the tea leaves correctly.
