Conservative attorney George Conway on Thursday lamented the state of the Republican Party, telling MSNBCs Joe Scarborough the GOP is going to end up nominating a candidate" for the 2024 presidential race "who may be a convicted felon and will probably die in prison.
Conway who announced his divorce in May from Donald Trump's former counselor Kellyanne Conway made the remarks on Morning Joe following the first Republican presidential primary debate on Wednesday in Milwaukee, WI.
Noting Trump is most likely going to be facing justice and facing justice again today, Scarborough asked what Conway expects as he looks forward to the events of today in Georgia.
You know, Conway continued, what's really, really sad was the events of last night, which will be soon forgotten, where you had six candidates saying they would vote for a person who is a convicted felon. I mean, it's just absolutely stunning, but this is going to be 2016 all over again because everybody, they're all attacking everyone but Trump.
They're all going to end up nominating a candidate who, you know, will maybe be a convicted felon, will probably die in prison, and was found by a federal district court to be a rapist, Conway added. Its crazy.
Trump is expected to surrender on Thursday to the Fulton County Jail where hell be processed on racketeering and conspiracy charges related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. Several of Trumps co-defendants in that case have already turned themselves in.

(28,836 posts)Working for Trump seems to turn people's brains to mush, so perhaps she was reasonable before then.
Probably not.
From Wikipedia: "In the late 1990s, Conway dated conservative pundit Laura Ingraham."
Ok, never mind. lol

(6,674 posts)Many decry divorce, but sometimes divorce is just what the doctor ordered, and I definitely speak from experience.

(2,010 posts)Mostly I agree with you, he's part of the rethug machine, and not grounded. He stayed with wifey for image and grift. They were the odd couple, at odds with each other's political allegiance and actions. And they both made and built followers and income.
But over these 6 years there have been times when I've appreciated his attitudes and analysis on tfg. Not often, but sometimes I really like him.
I'll acknowledge that I've felt appreciation for a few rethugs in recent years, as many of us have. Liz Cheney comes to mind, not someone I'd ever vote for or support politically, but someone I have to appreciate for her patriotism and courage. Standing up and speaking out is not the GOPQ way. I appreciate whenever one of them does.
While I like what Conway said, I was just commenting on another thread about whether tfg would ever be behind bars, and i thought he'd die before he got locked up.

(3,223 posts)...however, I'll believe it when I see it. I'd settle for a permanent ban on Trump running for any future elective office, but that might be an equally tall order.
