There's a reason the media and right wing politicians almost always talk to voters in diners... they are almost always right wing.
ABC news just showed Tim Scott getting the shock of his life in a diner... I'm sure he was expecting to get asked if he'll lock up crooked Hillary for eating babies, but instead he was asked "If you can't stand up to Trump, how are you ever going to be able to stand up to the leaders of China and Russia?"
GREAT QUESTION
unfortunately ABC news did not show his reply but just said "Scott pushed because but the voter was not convinced".
But I'd like EVERYONE to keep asking EVERY rethug candidate for this. Make them choose. The MAGATs, or everyone else. You can't have it both ways.

anyway, chuck goudie also did a story about the two people from chicago who surrendered at fulton county. at the very end of the clip he said their abc legal analyst said the best way for trump to evade prison on these four indictments is to be president and pardon himself.
i thought: no! he can't pardon himself out of the georgia STATE crap, only FEDERAL crap!
way to go abc legal analyst!
here's the clip

(94,639 posts)Tim Scott has tense back-and-forth with New Hampshire voter over support for Trump
The South Carolina senator was one of the GOP candidates who said at Wednesday's debate that he would support Trump in the general election if convicted of crimes.

CONCORD, N.H. Sen. Tim Scott got into a tense exchange with a 79-year-old retired schoolteacher Friday during a campaign stop, focused on his resistance to criticizing former President Donald Trump.
Scott was making his way through the Windmill Restaurant, a small diner, when customer David Coffey called him over to the booth where he was eating and confronted the South Carolina senator with a question about Trump.
You dont stand up to Trump, how are you going to stand up to the president of Russia and China? Coffey asked.
As Scott tried to talk around the question and Coffey pushed back, Scott said, Do you want to have a conversation? Or do you want a monologue? Im happy to listen, but if you want to have a dialogue, Ill be speaking as well.

(82,849 posts)"Don't interrupt me while I'm dodging your question" or "Do you want a monolog?" Sen. Scott would desperately like to distinguish himself, but he's pretty bog-standard politician.

I guess this guy was a little more independent-minded; maybe it's the location ( New Hampshire--"live free or die" ) rather than the usual "Fred's Typical Ohio Diner" customer in the cartoon. ( Another of Tom T's favorite memes is the "Sunday Talking About Stuff Show" ).

I'm sick of the diner being some sort of representative of middle America. They're not. I can't even think of a diner near me.

(15,471 posts)producer had an outcome already in mind when they went into the diner.
ABC has always been a bit right-leaning.
Same with science. If you go into something with a desired outcome in mind and you shape the data to show that desired outcome then it isn't really science.
If a journalist goes into something with an outcome already in mind and allows that to shape the story, then it isn't really journalism.
As to Scott, well, he's finding out how very thin that line is between placating the deplorable base to win the primary and being credible as a national candidate. Because that was a GREAT question that should be asked of all the clowns in the GOP clown car.

(13,003 posts)when people seriously wonder about the so called Journalists in the entire U.S. Media...............
A simple fact should be clearly evident to the population of the United States...........
90+% OF ALL MEDIA IN THE UNITED STATES IS OWNED AND OPERATED BY UBER RICH REPUBLICANS.......
WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU EXPECT THEM TO SAY?????????????????????
Most evident is the White House Press Corps. Those journalists worked hard to get to that position. Do you honestly expect them to say one single word that the Uber Rich Republican Owners and Operators wouldn't like?????? REALLY?????? That reporter/journalist would lose their job instantaneously, their prestige, and their incredible salary, with just ONE anti-republican question or statement..........
Most journalists in America have sold their souls, not ANY different than the street walking coke whores in cities across America.....

(4,741 posts)To qualify as 1%. All of the major TV bobbleheads are firmly in 1% territory when it comes to pay, and it's far from rare for some of them to be in .1% territory. The major newspaper reporters are, at a minimum, in the top 10%, and a whole bunch are pushing 1%.
So they support the oligarchy party because it's in their financial interest to do so.
It's time to face the fact that they are not and will not be on the side of We the People. Nearly all of them are traitors, and deserve to be treated as such.

If Scott interrupted Granitehead while he was having his fifth cuppa blacker than the heart of darkness coffee, he got exactly what he deserved.
Note all primary candidates: New England diners are sanctuaries; treat them as such or else some cranky old bastard could go Tim Scott on your ass. Also the diner's owner/manager may go Tilton Diner and throw you out for getting in way of the servers and customers.
