Taxpayers on the hook when states do not expand and/or update their medicaid programs

I just listened to a show about this. When states do not expand medicaid or update the program, it costs schools money. Schools are mandated to care for children's illnesses and health conditions. These are unfunded federal mandates. But, for every child who is covered by medicaid, the school does receive some reimbursement. So, red governors who are so proud of themselves for cutting off medicaid, not expanding it, not updating the rules, local taxpayers will have to cover the costs of these school programs.

actually supporting life.

Before someone responds about Portland or Vermont, etc., I understand that there are isolated incidents and anecdotes from blue areas as are found in the article. I said "predominantly" and you can be nearly certain it is the "pro-life" politicians in any area behind denying vulnerable children the resources they need to develop to their fullest potential, as we all deserve to do.

"Of the 15 states that reported total removals by age group, Texas reported the highest percentage of children removed, at 81%, followed by Idaho, Kansas and Missouri, where at least half of those removed were children, according to KFF."
