Goering wanted to be shot, a soldier’s death, and not hung as a criminal. He chose suicide when his request was rejected.

I remember watching a documentary on YouTube about Goering. It mentioned he had custom designed flamboyant uniforms he designed himself. A real narcissistic type. Kind of reminds me of Trump wanting a Medal of Honor. He claimed it was a joke, but knowing his personality, I can totally believe it.

Some people need to pick up a damn book.

Former head of the ADL, Abraham Foxman says comparing Trump to Nazis trivializes the Holocaust.

I apologize if it's not 100% accurate and perfect because it's from memory, a book called "Between Giants" a story of the Baltic nations in WW2.

When the Germans launched Operation Barbarossa in 1941, the invasion of Russia... on day 2-3 the Germans captured The capital of Lithuania, Vilna was captured by the Nazis as the Russian occupiers fled in haste.

One of their first actions in Vilna was to coordinate with Lithuanian Nazi sympathizing groups and enlist their labor in hunting down the local Jewish population.

The Germans didn't trust the Lithuanians so instead of giving them rifles... they ordered 5 ton trucks full of farm implements, shovels, axes and hoes to drop off the supplies as killing tools.

The Lithuanians and their Einsatzgruppen overlords wandered home to home and village to village seeking out Jewish inhabitants.

After the onset of WW2, 15,000 Jews from Poland escaped to Vilna as the Nazis ransacked and murdered their way through Poland. There were 50,000 Lithuanian Jews in Vilna.

Local men assisted the invaders by showing them WHERE the Jewish families lived and assisted in butchering Jews by the thousands by hacking them to pieces with farm implements and throwing the bodies in shallow graves.

And that's a single story from the Holocaust.

Poopy face, orange man bad, lying, criming despicable traitor Donald J Trump leader of the Meal Team Six half ass coup attempt, half ass mafia wanna-be.... as disgusting as he is...

Is no closer to an actual NAZI than my cat is to an amoeba.

...joyfully hack all the transfolk they could corral to pieces with farm implements, etc., if they were given the chance and sanctioned to do so by a supportive government?

I have no such trust.

The fascism of the 21st Century is a holocaust in the egg. Should it hatch out, we WILL see mass death on a scale Pol Pot, Hitler and Stalin would have envied.

A partial (to say the least) list of those at risk of extermination should their power grab succeed:

LGBTQ people
Brown people (except for some "useful" ones, perhaps)
"Liberal activists"
Muslims, Pagans, Parsi, B'hai, possibly Buddhists
and, oh, yes... Jewish people.

They're plenty antisemitic.

There is some legitimacy to claim comparing any single incident to the Holocaust thus trivializes it, but to compare the period PRIOR to the Holocaust with contemporary politico-cultural events not only does NOT "trivialize" the Holocaust, it HONORS the lesson of that horrific episode in human history.

Those who do not learn therefrom, are doomed to repeat.

somberly,
Bright

The President-Elect’s use of Nazi Germany to make a political analogy is not only an inappropriate comparison on the merits, but it also coarsens our discourse and diminishes the horror of the Holocaust. … ADL always has maintained that glib comparisons to Nazi Germany are offensive and a trivialization of the Holocaust. We have a long record of speaking out when both Democrats and Republicans engage in such overheated rhetoric. It would be helpful for the President-Elect to explain his intentions or apologize for the remark.

This was aimed at Trump but it also outlines their generalized disapproval of calling people "Nazis" in a political context.

That covers internal fear.

It says . . . the end is near.

It usually precedes some imminent disaster for he who does the glare.

Most actors are good at it.

Apparently Goering could be very charming and made nice with his jailers. That’s how he got the cyanide passed to him. Can’t remember th details but some brought him a pen with cyanide inside and the jailers gave it to him. I don’t think they knew there was poison in it. But TFG is kind of famous for unduly ingratiating himself to his SS guards.
