. . . Colbert, Meyers, Ruffin and Oliver!
I need them to narrow the focus of my free-ranging anxiety over current affairs. I need them to skewer and mock the public figures who are tearing us down and I need to hear the shared applause and laughter of the audience because it reminds me that I'm not alone.
Yes, these strikes are impacting many lives and those people's economic issues are far, FAR more important than my feelings of frustration and isolation. . . But, damn, I really do miss my late night hosts.

(6,640 posts)He always has such a funny take on the headlines, but then the show ascends another level with the weekly deep-dive. I either learn about new issues and topics, or I get a fresh perspective on something I thought I already knew pretty well.
On a not unrelated note, when I was a kid I used to look forward to seeing the TV Guide Fall Preview issue. For me it held as much magic as the Sears Wishbook did for most kids. I would memorize the new schedule and plan my viewing habits around all of those shiny, new shows. Sadly, this fall just isn't going to be the same unless they can reach agreements with the guilds.
