Maybe stop the sentencing clock and put all his cards on the table to help the prosecution land the big-big fish.

..other business at the courthouse is proceeding normally, so it's unlikely that some external event caused the postponement.

Also: reporters' questions are being referred by the DOJ to the court offices. That means it's not an issue with the prisoners themselves, since they're DOJ's responsibility at the moment.

Also #2: Once convicted, plea deals are no longer an option.

Results of defendendents cooperation in related cases?

I realize it's not the case here, but I seem to remember a defendent asking a judge to postpone sentencing until after he had testified in another trial in the hopes thevjudge might view that favorably.
