What happened with Mitch McConnell is very sad.

I hope those who thinks it is funny that it has happened again, realizes that it can happen to anyone? When I see the videos it reminds of what my grandmother went thru when she started to the very same thing. My mother (my grandmother’s daughter) is also showing signs of the same issues. It’s a horrible experience for anyone to deal with. So, please be respectful! I don’t like McConnell or his political views, but he is a human being who is experiencing a tough situation. Let’s show the GOBers that cruelty has no place when it comes to person’s health issues like McConnell or anyone else.

This most recent episode reminded me of my late husband so much.

He was 85 years old and died of vascular dementia.

He had that same lost look to his face.

I cannot help but wonder if this is what is going on with Mitch McConnell.

I hope his family is able to find him the care he needs.

It was a horrible thing that he went through (and what I went through).

My husband died in May of last year and there wasn't much help for me or him sadly.

I find nothing funny about it either.

It is plain sad.

Alice Roosevelt Longworth.

I have sympathy for anyone suffering from his condition, but who isn't also a horrible human being. He has been deliberately cruel for his entire stint in the Senate. He played political games with our judicial system that will lead to the oppression of millions of Americans for decades. He abused his power in the most spectacular ways imaginable.

If he is now reaping what he has sown, that does not obligate us to forgive and forget. Forgiveness is for those who show sincere repentance for the awful things they have done.

They don't care about how sick I am, how sick you are, how sick the people they pretend to represent are. Each and every one of them actively engage in sabotaging the little bit of healthcare we do get. McConnell has been chief among those doing this for almost my entire lifetime. As I've grown I've watched this man actively make my world worse on purpose. Do everything in his power to strip away rights and steal from the people. Frankly, if I were to do a little dance and say good for evil ass I wouldn't stepping out of bounds, but I'm not. I just want him to go away and leave us alone.

I’m comfortable taking pleasure in the karmic misery he is receiving, just as I take pleasure in Dumpy’s legal woes. Mitch McConnell for decades has been the tip of the spear in damaging our democracy, setting us back with racial, women’s and worker’s rights. People are homeless, sick or dead because of the evil that he has done in his political lifetime… and here “we” are on the left wringing our hands over people expressing happiness seeing this man going through it. I for one am not of the practice that if they go low, we go high. I believe in the military verbiage that you overwhelm the enemy with superior force. Like Jay-Z rap line, “They threw 2 at me, I threw 4 back.” We need less milk-toast on the left and more burnt toast.

my take on it is to be more or less neutral in my comments about his health but I will say that I cannot be sad for that aspect of his life. My sadness about Mitch is that he never found it in himself to turn away from the cruelty and self serving grab for power that brought negative health consequences of far greater severity to so many than what he is suffering now. That he either could not see it or could but didn't care or cared about greed and power more is where sadness seems right.

I don't wish him ill or wish him really anything at all. It's too late. The life has been almost completely lived. It can't be undone now and time for correction in course is gone. I don't think about his suffering. I don't really want to think about him at all. I would rather think about and remember the people who suffered unnecessary pain and problems because they couldn't get the healthcare they needed because of him. I'll remember the anxiousness, pain and despair of spouses who held loved ones but couldn't ease their pain and suffering. I'll think about how those memories will live with them forever. I'll think about those things because Mitch and people like him will not.

I had thought TIA. He also had a fall with possible brain injury recently. But he used the term "Parkinsonian". My mother had Parkinson's and for those of you not familiar with all forms of the disease, she never had ONE TREMOR. Instead, she became slower and more rigid and eventually unable to speak. So I do see that as a possibility. There is also a dementia component in the disease. Since Mother could not speak, we have no idea about that.

I also have sympathy for nearly everyone and anyone who has a family member going through this and similar issues related to aging.

However, when it comes to McConnell, I have no sympathy whatsoever.

Americans today and everyday are DIRECTLY living with the consequences of actions he took as Senate Majority Leader from 2016-2020. He IS the singular reason we have Justice Stolen Seat (Gorsuch) and Justice OfDonald (Barrett) sitting on the SCOTUS today. He IS the reason we now have a SCOTUS that we cannot 100% rely on as a guardrail against McConnell's party taking us down the path toward an authoritarian regime.

The kindest thing I can muster to say about McConnell is, perhaps the scales are in the process of being righted.

And this applies to a number of other kinds of posts. I think we should always check to see that DU doesn't begin to sound like a GOP message board -- not for the political opinions expressed, but for cruelty or prejudice.

he is clearly not well. If he wants to stay in the public arena them he has to face harsh criticism.

I don't have a bit of sympathy for him. The day he croaks I'll be smiling because it will be a good day for this country.

Here is my fantasy: The best thing that could happen for him (and us at this point) is for him to totally lose it and shit his pants. Upon shitting his pants, he reaches in there and grabs a bit a poop. Smiling at the camera like an idiot and holding his stool aloft, he announces, "Mother..., I've done a poopy." Then, silence from the Republicans as they see no reason to call for his stepping down
as they are all secret coprophiliacs. Who knew! The best thing for the Republicans is to be HUMILIATED so badly, even the abetting
MSM can't play it down. Though I'm not sure after experiencing Trump there is sufficient shame and self reflection amongst these foul creatures for them to feel embarrassment. Very sad indeed.

Mitch McConnell doesn’t have a shred of dignity and we should afford him none.

Mitch McConnell can fuck off and drop dead. Just because he was born as a homo sapien doesn't mean I have to feel anything other than utter contempt towards him. He would happily push me in front of an oncoming train for being a lib. He doesn't think I deserve bodily autonomy, because I was born with a uterus. To be completely honest, I think this "Oh, we have to be so compassionate to everyone, no matter how evil they are and no matter how much harm they've done millions of others" is bullshit.

Age and infirmity comes to us all (if we're lucky), and strokes are one of the ways it comes.

My Dad had a TIA 2 years ago. It lasted 5 minutes and it was how we discovered he has AFIB. He's had treatment ever since and he's as good as an 87-year-old with a pacemaker can be.

McConnell could recover from this well enough to be the same utter evil asshole he's always been for the next 4 years. In fact, that's what I expect.

mirror President Biden's reaction.

I'd rather mirror President Biden's reaction.

I don't like McConnell either, but I don't wish him suffering.

I was a caretaker for my mom for about 5 years before she passed. So I've seen all that agony up close.

I don't wish to see it again.

I lost my Mom to dementia last year. Anyone going through any kind of brain or physical function failure deserves compassion, all politics aside. If one cannot manage that, then silence will suffice.
