I saw a headline a few minutes ago saying that Biden and DeSantis "avoided each other" when Joe visited Florida.
This is a false equivalence. DeSantis lives in and represents Florida. Biden represents the United States. All of them.
When a president visits a disaster area it is simply good manners to welcome him.
Ron DeSantis is a small-minded and shallow man and, quite possibly, a coward. Being ashamed or afraid to meet a potential adversary in peace, for a common cause and with mutual respect is important and a big demonstration of maturity.
Do his supporters respect his accepting Federal money and assistance when he denied it to others? Do they think him appearing on the same stage as the President is a bad thing?
Working together for the common good, even if only in appearance, used to be a given in such political and social situations.
Those who would eschew such niceties are weaker humans.

No reason to be afraid, Ron, Joe isn't gonna beat you up like Don does.

(7,729 posts)He thinks the "base" voters lack the maturity to understand ordinary courtesy that any governor should extend to any president when the president comes to town with a check and sympathetic words for victims of disaster.
Of course, he may be right.
