Un-fucking-believable! Trump's minions are evidently unaware that the major defense Nazi war criminals used at The Nuremberg Trials was: "I was only following orders."
Now, virtually all of them are claiming that they were "... following the president's orders." How incredibly stupid are these people? It didn't work at Nuremberg. Yet, I guess they believe it's going to work in today's America.
The ignorance and arrogance of these people is mind boggling. Can't they hear themselves? Can't they grasp that they are using the exact same excuse that was used by some of the worst mass murderers in world history? Don't they know that many of those war criminals were sentenced to life in prison, and that some of them were hung?
"I was only following orders." Almost every American over a certain age recognizes those words for what they are and where they came from. Yet, Trump's elves are actually pointing at Trump and saying, "I was only following the president's orders."
Here's what scares me. What if it works this time? What if the juries before which these Trump accomplices are tried actually buy that excuse? After all, many (most?) people born after the mid-1980's probably never heard or read about the "I was only following orders" Nuremberg meme?
Well, I guess we're going to find out. And if most of them are acquitted on "I was only following orders," then this is a country that has lost it's way. And it's one in which I no longer want to live.

(76,693 posts)They got convicted and are being sentenced to 10 years or more.
They defended themselves by claiming to be patriots following TFG's "call to arms", or at least how they interpreted his statements as same.
Those juries didn't buy it. Hopefully that trend continues.

afraid he "would get yelled at" if he didn't click his heels and bend over......I swear Trump's White House was a kindergarten from hell with a sadistic megalomaniacal psychopath as head master...

(19,363 posts)were not government employees, never mind military officers (like many of those Nazis were).
Meadows and Clark can try to claim that their civilian government job required them to "follow orders" even when those "orders" were criminal, but the rest of those motherfuckers can't even claim that. They were civilians, perhaps being employed by TFG or his campaign/PAC, but often not even that. Just fucking random people stumbling around pretending that they have "orders" to follow. It is totally asinine.

(15,388 posts)It's also a condemnation of those with whom Trump surrounded himself. He wanted people who would do whatever he told them to do. And, of course, he ignored any and all who tried to tell him anything he didn't want to hear.
If the insane creature wins/steals a second term, no one will dare to say "no" under penalty of ... well, you can figure it out. And if he does win/steal it, does anyone really believe America will ever see another election?
If the four time indicted prick worms his way back into the White House, America is over.

(11,780 posts)Hell deny giving those orders anyway. I wonder if they have them in writing? The original Nazi was much smarter than TFG and never put his orders for the Jewish extermination in writing.

(15,388 posts)Shakespeare put those words into the mouth of one of his characters. He didn't believe that any more than any Democrat or other sane person believes it.
However, at present, most Republicans probably believe that might be the way to get their "Orange Jesus" off the hook.
