My mother told me that as a child I did not like to be touched. As an adult I learned I was schizoid, not a people person, loved being alone but never felt lonely. I can do the social sprint but have no interest in the social marathon. I have friendly acquaintances (social sprint), talking at the mailbox, but nobody I want to spend time with (social marathon). I am not shy and am able to talk with complete strangers who likely think I'm a friendly guy (sprint), but have neighbors (women) who I have known for years but have never touched. It's who I am and I'm completely comfortable with that.
