As we learned from last week’s Republican debates, the leading candidates for the GOP nomination all appear to agree on a broad plan to gut American government and replace it with a strongman president and corporate rule.

The modern administrative state, sometimes called the “welfare state” by Republicans, was largely created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in response to the Republican Great Depression of the early 1930s. And every day since FDR was sworn into office on March 4, 1933, the GOP has worked feverishly to dismantle his legacy.

1. It isn't shocking, at least not if you've ever

actually listened to these guys. This has been their plan for a long, long time.

They are just more open about the nuts and bolts of it recently, because they think they can win without the votes.

3. Yep. Once a quiet thing whispered it is now shouted loudly

They've subverted the notion that it's normal for government to pool resources for the underserved areas of the economy for security against hunger, illness, ignorance and old age.

In our corporate state, all revenue streams must produce profits for the finacialized elite. That view is no longer seen as an outcome of societal harming greed, but rather, a product of unchallengeable natural law.

4. Puppet court and legislature is their goal

What they want is Florida’s legislature. Where Desantis just writes whatever law suits his hissy fit of the week and they just pass it without even reading it. This is how Russia works too. They also have a “legislature” but it is just full of Putin loyalists that pass whatever he wants with no actually debate or impact analysis.

The rethugs already have SCOTUS so if they take Congress and the White House we’ll still have the “3 branches” on paper but the president will be a de facto dictator. And good luck voting them out. The puppet branches will make sure that is impossible.
