A doctor said so
after all, why would a doctor who is the doctor to a political entity not tell the absolute truth?
Ill tell you why: all you EVER have to do is subscribe to a social media group populated by medical professionals at the doctoral level. The WORST. Stupidity reigns supreme, with incompetence and amorality right behind. The way it works, is that someone posits a clinical situation with which they are having difficulty. Often, a reasonable suggestion or answer is provided but if you wait just an hour or two, youll get between five and 10 insolent obnoxious responses denigrating the individual and telling them that they have no business doing what they doing .
Much of what is stated by some of these miscreants is often diametrically opposed to good medicine and focuses solely on profitability. Of course, that is not generally true among a majority of the subscribers but as usual, the idiots have the loudest voices and most individuals are afraid of them. Often times the administrator of the group is a personal friend of a number of these people and allows them this latitude.
Ill give you an example: I belong to a dental group run by this fellow who thinks hes going to be the next national guru of dental management, and he thinks hes a player. Its strictly amateur hour, but this is whats going on these days. Theres a member of the group with whom he went to school who is one of the most abusive, Ugly inside and out, obnoxious, nasty, money driven, outright mean and nasty, insulting, and of course, omnipresent. I once called into question some of what he was saying, in a rather cynical, but generally polite manner, and I got muted for a week by his buddy.
I sent a personal message to the administrator who practices not far from me, and told him that allowance of this type of behavior, while muting others is what gave rise to fascists like Donald Trump. Of course, he deigned not to respond to my message, and I ran into him on the street and buttonholed him and told him in no uncertain terms that this guy was gonna be a problem for him. He just gave me that supercilious look with these guys think they are masters of.. Not too long afterwards the jerk went off on a young lady who had had a real problem in a very misogynistic fashion and he wound up getting on the administrators bad side. I posted a one-word response toldja.
So hearing a stupid, incompetent, false, and wrong diagnosis from so-called trained doctoral personnel should be anticipated. We all saw the same thing twice with the senate minority leader, and know exactly what is going on here. You just have to look. If your mother or father did the same thing, you would know for a fact that something is wrong. Very wrong. You would likely seek medical help for them as the certainty of an impending problem would weigh upon your soul. As an aside, I believe this is secondary to a condition of McConnell which has also been manifest before our eyes and denied continuously for a couple years now.
Of course, their tack has been: who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?

(114,653 posts)The truth is that with McConnell, there are some very likely diagnoses in terms of what we've seen on camera recently and in the past 18 months or so, as well as based on probabilities for his age and what can be discerned about his risk factors.
BUT, for any of us burdened in our past with the task of creating comprehensive rule-out lists in Medical/Veterinary school (and likely in Dental School), continuing on through internships, residency, and any fellowships, there should be an understanding of the large numbers of possibilities--even if some are not probable. As we were mostly taught, "look for the horses, not the zebras" in terms of likely diagnoses--albeit if you practice long enough we all occasionally find a "zebra." But, without his medical history, his current labs, scans, and other diagnostic testing findings, it is impossible to narrow down those rule-outs except for the issues in the first paragraph. Was his fall and concussion fairly recently the result of a cardiovascular or neurological issue like, perhaps syncope or Parkinson's or simple geriatric balance loss or hypoglycemia or? Thus, are his current issues the result of his prior trauma and perhaps neurological, or due to a preexisting cardiovascular, neurological, or even metabolic issue that has been exacerbated? We can look at past and current video and speculate, but beyond that, all we can do is winnow down based on probabilities, without really knowing the exact cause/diagnosis. Presumedly he is getting the best diagnostic intervention, who may or may not ever really clue the public in. But, no matter one's experience, specialty or "hunches," the rest of us are left only to speculate and that rule-out list remains quite long.
That said, it is not possible to assume him to be in good health or to downplay what we have seen as immaterial. And, as much as I detest McConnell for all the harm he has done and for who he is and has been, I will admit to some sympathy and empathy for the public reaction. But, when you remain in a leadership position that you are determined to hold on to, the vultures will circle and not be quieted by nonresponsive explanations. If you seek to protect your own privacy, best to live privately.

(28,580 posts)Something is very very wrong, but in the tradition of Republican lying and confabulation, we may never know exactly what. In my practice over the years Ive had hundreds of elderly come in to get their teeth cleaned and deny illness but all I ever had to do wAs look at them and I knew that this was quite possibly the last visit or the next to last visit. I was correct much of the time. Then their relative would come in and Id find out that the geriatric individual had been battling whatever for a couple years or so.

(15,540 posts)Then again, who among us can recall a certain physician telling us that Anal Fistula was the most fittest, healthiest, ever person to enter into the president's office.
And regarding that physician, who among us would want to drop trow, look left and cough for that physician?

Then again, he or she is likely part of the same group of "doctors" prescribing horse dewormer as a preventive treatment for Covid. I'm sure many of their "patients" over the last 2-3 years either qualified for or received the Herman Cain Award.

(11,106 posts)McConnell's clearly not well. But, for the sake of power, there will be a gaslighting pretense he's totally fine.
However, can we think of anyone else in the Senate who is clearly not well but hanging on for power's sake? Anyone at all? An individual with obvious problems, but whom people have been nonstop insisting for a few years now is totally fine, and how dare you suggest otherwise?
Yeah. This is why integrity and credibility matter. Because situations arise where you're in a position of pointing something out, but then there's this whole other situation that is exactly the same that was ignored, papered over, and denied, and everyone can see it.
Legs are useful. Occasionally they're needed for standing on. Which is why chucking them out in the moment is generally a bad idea.
Ah well. We're stuck with all this now.
