.... could ignore long-standing precedence.

Until "dead stare," McConnell decided he could deny the sitting POTUS Obama a SCOTUS seat and got away with it. That was the outrageous start that got us to where we are today. The Fourteenth Amendment, Article 3 clearly seems to address the TFG's inability to even run for office in 2024.

This SH*T needs to stop. Tuberville must be held accountable to the full extent that the laws and congressional rules allow. Stop playing with this traitorous fool.

This is no longer your parent's GOP. This a rabid, infested, diseased body. Being led by a band of fools. And financed by the top 1% of the billionaires who ONLY care about themselves.

People nowadays are not really aware of the implications of the word "shall" back in the 18th and 19th centuries. And even in the mid-20th century, my teachers made sure they explained it to us, in English class AND in civics class when reading the US Constitution. If that were not true, then why is it that nobody else before the McConnell gang ever pulled that trick?

Along the lines that all nominations to defense leadership serve in an interim capacity until a vote of confirmation is undertaken. And I'd like that they go to a full four years if it takes 30 more days. Let Tubbyhead try and get Congress to cut the military budget and destroy their fake brand in the process. I am aware of unintended consequences but I'd rather the positions are filled.

... retrievers those mother fuckers have to loose and what we need to do is burn them with the
white hot light of the truth. The population demographics is on our side and what we need to do
is to get out the vote and have that vote counted all across America. Whose side are you on America's
or rich assholes/Putin?

BTW people like Leo have been working to pack the courts with GOP deer ticks as judges and we all
get to see their lyme disease in banning health care for women or just being mean to some gay young
man or t-girl playing softball with her classmates. They know that the demographics dooms them and
by packing the courts they get to cling to power.

BTW part 2 Joe Biden and company are doing an awesome job.

And it’s got not one goddamned thing to do with abortion, as he publicly claims. I can pretty much guarantee that.

My take on this is that he’s trying to hold all those posts open for Agent Orange, hoping Putin’s Puppet wins next Fall. Then, Dolt45 can appoint loyalists to every one of those military leadership positions: Loyalists who would support his (next) coup in ‘28, and the US experiment with democracy would be over.

I wonder if there’s any way Biden can do some type of recess appointments.

25. Maybe...
Thu Sep 7, 2023, 11:13 AM

The problem there is that the Fascists have taken to holding daily, pro-forma sessions when the Senate is in recess, just to prevent positions from being filled in that manner. IIRC, the SCOTUS ruled that appointments made as “recess” appointments over top of pro-forma sessions were unconstitutional. So, you can be sure that they’ll continue to use this method of obstruction.

Besides, a person given a recess appointment can only hold that position for a max of 2 years (I think), so that’s not really all that different from being in an “acting” status. That’s one thing for a judgeship or ambassadorial appointment, but doesn’t really work for what are meant to be permanent, full time jobs in the military.

The majority the appointed positions we have in our government need to go, too. Replace them with career officials. There are multiple thousands of them of these appointments. No other government in the world does that for equivalent jobs.

And why does the Senate need to sign off on every single officer promotion above the rank of major/Lt. Commander (that’s my understanding of where it kicks in)? I can see why for Joint Chiefs or something, and big brass (star) ranks. But why can’t the military decide on promotions below brigadier general, rear admiral, etc.,? That’s just too cumbersome. Especially when you add in all the civilian appointees.

This is NOT the way to run a government.

A maggot brain like Tuberville's would survive anything that would wipe out dinosaurs and cockroaches.

Perhaps depriving him of his current taxpayer-financed position and putting him to work in another public capacity, such as making license plates or turning big rocks into little ones, would result in rapid personal growth, if not some kind of spiritual transformation.

As for the turd's financial bettors, er, backers...

OpenSecrets says the guy gets more than 70-percent of his campaign contributions from large individuals and their super-size contributions.

by any and all means so that Repubes running for election or reelection can say, "Look at the mess Joe Biden has created! Elect ME to clean it up!"

And their voters will not notice or care that it was Tater Town and the other Repubes who actually created the mess.

And, of course, this is also why Matt Gaetz and other House Repubes want to impeach Biden. It doesn't matter that Joe hasn't done anything impeachable. All that matters is making the Repube voters believe the lie that Biden has done horrible things for which he should be impeached.
