I hate updates. Because you just don't know what's going to happen.
A recent "security" upload cut off access to my online banking. Thank goodness the phone app still worked. And I was able to do my banking while traveling.
No prewarning about upgrades, so it's possible you could find yourself without access to your bank or medical records and no one available to help.
Some day the truth will out to the question: Is the world better off with or without computers, and that is before AI enters the game?

(9,103 posts)Concerning your interest in state investigations, you might take time to review the investigation into allegations of sexual abuse by coaches of college athletes, for instance in your own state of Ohio. Though you have no jurisdiction over such cases, as an active participant in the events described you might review the findings to determine whether all the possible responsible persons were held accountable, and whether possible witnesses may have been less than truthful in their statements about this case. This should be of particular relevance to you since at least one of them is a current member of your Congressional caucus, and is in fact a member of your own state's delegation.
I'm sure there are many people, including the survivors of the abuse, who would be more than happy to help you identify precisely who I mean.

Hes a short guy, as far as Ive seen in photos and group shots hes in.
And if he was shorter than average in high school, I can see exactly why he went out for wrestling. To look tougher than he felt he looked. To feed a built-in inferiority complex because he couldnt tower over the other guys. Hell, because he wasnt even eye-to-eye with most of them.
Im just guessing here. Im no PhD. Just an observer of human foibles. But this behavior of his really stands out to me, and makes certain statements about larger motivations.

(113,957 posts)and while assertive beyond my wildest dreams, it does not cross the line in terms of professionalism--yet if anyone thinks it is not exposing Jordan for the ill-informed cretinous bastard that he is, they need to go back and read more thoroughly. I particularly loved toward the end where she directs Jordan to a GSO publication on RICO laws by state and points out the price to NON-BAR members (Jordan went to a law school that might be fine, but whose name I've never heard, but never passed and possibly never even attempted the Bar exam).

(46,056 posts)I particularly appreciate these snips:
Chairman Jordan, I tell people often deal with reality or reality will deal with you. It is time that you deal with some basic realities. A Special Purpose Grand Jury made up of everyday citizens investigated for 10 months and made recommendations to me. A further reality is that a grand jury of completely different Fulton County citizens found probable cause against the defendants named in the indictment for RICO violations and various other felonies. Face this reality, Chairman Jordan: the select group of defendants who you fret over in my jurisdiction are like every other defendant, entitled 10 no worse or better treatment than any other American citizen.
a. Your notion that different standards of justice should apply to a select group of people is offensive. Here is another reality you must face: Those who wish to avoid (felony charges in Fulton County, Georgia including violations of Georgia RICO law should not commit felonies in Fulton County, Georgia. In this jurisdiction, every person is subject to the same laws and the same process, because every person is entitled to the same dignity and is held to the same standard of responsibility. Persons socioeconomic status, race, gender, sexual orientation, or political prominence does not entitle them to an exemption from that basic standard.
b. Defendant Trumps status as a political candidate cannot make him legally immune from criminal prosecution. The basic premise of your letter is wrong. The criminal defendant about which you express concern was fully aware of the existence of the criminal investigation being conducted by the Fulton County District Attorneys Office at the time he announced his candidacy for President. I have no doubt that many Americans are the subject of criminal investigations and prosecutions at any given moment. An announcement of a candidacy for elected office, whether President of the United States, Congress, or state or local office, is not and cannot be a bar to criminal investigation or prosecution. Any notion to the contrary is offensive to our democracy and to the fundamental principle that all people are equal before the law.

msfiddlestix
(8,178 posts)But she didn't quite go there in this letter. thank you.
But she could have done so based on legal grounds of obstruction?
Ocelot II
(130,532 posts)in the underlying RICO case. It's just a letter telling Jordan, who demanded documents and evidence so he could "investigate" her prosecution, to go pound sand. As she stated in her letter, she wouldn't have had to respond at all. She has already charged everyone she's going to charge. The letter has nothing to do with the case except that she's reminding Jordan to fuck right off because Congress has no right to interfere with a state prosecution.
Irish_Dem
(81,262 posts)I think she is clearly saying "You wanna screw with Fulton County? Bring it."
"You wanna stay out of trouble in Fulton County, then don't break the damn law here."
I am not talking about the law, I am talking about the psychology behind the letter. Yes she told him to FU.
But she is also warning Gym not to mess with her again. FA and FO.
