3. Apocalyptic thinking

There's no shortage of evangelical and conservative Christian groups rooting for the Second Coming. They're all pretty sure that they'll wind up on the right side of any coming judgment, and they're positively aching for a ringside seat to watching Avenging Jesus mete out some just punishment. To other people, of course.

This mode of thinking often translates into a state of total ennui: Jesus is coming soon, so why should I worry my pretty little head over such trifles as climate change or vulture capitalism? Sure, millions of people are suffering needlessly all over the world, but the Bible says that's the way things are supposed to be. In fact, it's going to get a lot worse, but that's not my problem. The unrighteous should take it up with the Almighty. It's the perfect excuse for not doing anything about the world's troubles, because Jesus is going to come back and wave his magic god wand and set everything right.

In the same way, nitwits like Colton Moore are just itching for a civil war that will re-order society to their liking and all the inferior folks will get what's coming to them. They, naturally, will sail unscathed through the horror they're conjuring because of how virtuous they are. If you take that delusion seriously (and any number of these nincompoops do just that), why wouldn't you be trying to call it into reality?
