If tfg is the gop candidate, knowing he's a national security threat,

How will this administration handle classified briefing updates, normally given to the candidate?

Good question. lamp_shade Sep 2023 #1
I doubt they would give him anything but low-level security briefings or probably none at all. Lonestarblue Sep 2023 #2

The question was prior to the election. His staff are not going to have anything to do with it. hlthe2b Sep 2023 #4
You're correct -- I was projecting if TFG were returned to the WH. no_hypocrisy Sep 2023 #5

Biden decided early on that Trump, unlike other former presidents, would not receive security briefings.

Even if staff provided low-level intelligence, TFG would insist on being given the real "juicy" stuff. And they'd give it him.

And if he refused to return it, again, they'd let him "give it back whenever" like the last time.

Same problem, different year.

This all falls to the Biden administration and it seems clear he's not going to give him documents nor more than the most minimal verbal summary. Right now he gets squat and Pres. Biden has every valid reason in the world to keep it that way as long as possible.

Then he would be entitled to obtain any information the executive branch or military possesses.

Well, let's see:

1. Born a US citizen? Check

2. At least 35 years old? Check

3. Lived in the US for 14 years? Check

4. Hasn't been elected president twice already? Check

5. Hasn't been elected president once already after serving two years of someone else's presidential term? Check

That's it. Now, some people have raised the issue of whether he has engaged in rebellion or insurrection against the United States. Absent a court decision, that seems to be matter of opinion.

But, no, we do not place the power to decide who runs for president into the hands of a county prosecutor.

It's absurd that we are on track to have a "security risk" and convicted felon as the nominee of a major party. It makes no sense. Other nations can safely ignore our advice going forward because our own system is a joke.
