Rep. Nancy Pelosis (D-CA) decision to seek re-election is not a surprise when you look at the good news Democrats had this week.
She wont be Speaker again but it seems increasingly likely her party will gain the majority in 2024.
Federal courts struck down GOP gerrymanders in Alabama and Florida. And a trial in Georgia could result in a new suburban district likely to favor Democrats.
Taken together, that could result in three new Democratic-leaning districts.
Meanwhile, the Ohio Supreme Court dismissed a challenge to the states congressional map, which offers some protection to three Democrats who currently hold seats in swing districts.
Democrats only need five seats to win back House control and they made progress this week without doing anything.

(9,914 posts)of the idiots across the aisle. We need to address, FIRST AND FOREMOST,
1)the problem of a gerrymandered supreme court - which will ultimately determine whether or not we get anything else changed for the better, and
2)the gerrymandering that goes on all over the country to continually provide for a republican supermajority in legislatures of states that have a 50%-50% split or close to it
3) Voting rights for EVERYONE equally, and without the regional blockades in certain districts (I'm thinking Houston, TX for one)
4) Regulations concerning foreign countries interference in our "news" and elections, which includes dark money
5) Laws protecting us against an authoritarian takeover of our government (i.e., destruction of democracy), which brings us to the most important thing
6) Laws permanently protecting any person's body against government interference, and a permanent law to protect abortion rights and trans medical care.
7) And a law that destroys Citizens United
8)More laws that further implementation of green energy, removing tax subsidies of oil companies
9)Windfall taxes for corporations that make predatory gains
