MI: $5.25M Ann Arbor project to create new secure election center, TV studio

ANN ARBOR, MI — After everything that has transpired in American democracy in recent years, and with changes in the way elections are being conducted, Ann Arbor is taking steps to create a new election center.

City Council voted 10-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 5, to move forward with a roughly $5.25 million project to create a city election center just west of M-14 at 3021 Miller Road, along with new studio space for Community Television Network.

“There can be nothing more important than ensuring that our elections remain secure in the face of really the way so much has changed now that we do absentee balloting on such a scale,” said Council Member Lisa Disch, D-1st Ward.

Council Member Travis Radina, D-3rd Ward, raised concerns about what could happen with Donald Trump running for president again in 2024.
