General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHey CNN - to this point Hurricane Lee has not entered the Caribbean
It is in the Atlantic.
Its outer bands will affect the Northern Leewards and Virgin Islands this weekend.
It has also weakened significantly although it is expected to slow down and regain strength.
Models suggest that it will veer north.

(22,081 posts)I will take you over CNN any day. 😊
I cannot believe a weather person at CNN wrote that Lee is moving through the Caribbean. To date Lee has not veered out of the Atlantic.

(4,280 posts)and the results will scroll incessantly during a half hour program in which CNN will have on 4 experts who will declare the hurricane is in disarray and will have to find a way to appeal to white, rural, marginalized voters if it has any hope of regaining it's strength.

The CNN lady said Lee was moving through the Caribbean - someone should give a map to whoever wrote that.

That thing hit the roaring subtropical jet stream that is blowing from west to east, and is pushing it back, causing the expected turn more northerly.

(270,816 posts)The Salton Sea - had to look it up.
The Salton Sea is a shallow, landlocked, highly saline body of water in Riverside and Imperial counties at the southern end of the U.S. state of California.

(35,531 posts)A bunch of water was diverted, wound up in a valley, and since then it's accumulated pollutants, salts, and it's slowly dried up.
Simultaneously, a lot of nice housing and vacation space appeared around it and environmentalists want the toxic dump that it is now replenished with water because migratory birds came to use it en route north or south and it's unclear that there are still sufficient sites for them to land and rest/drink/eat.
I cited it as an unlikely place to Lee to head to.

(270,816 posts)Lee has not veered into the Caribbean, so it cant be moving through the Caribbean which was what she said. Outer bands will affect the northern Leewards and the Virgin Islands over the weekend.

NOAA track is finally starting to show the big right turn most models have predicted. Not so good for our friends in Halifax. Appears Nova Scotia is going to get hit again.

New England need to pay attention for outerbands and rough seas

There was a tropical storm forming in the general vicinity so I went to the most trusted name in news, malaise, for updates.
True story. I relayed the information to my daughter and malaise's info was spot on.
