So, just as a journalistic matter

I am curious what y'all think about CNN (and possibly MSNBC) devoting their entire hour to the Hunter Biden news. A lot of stuff broke today as well that makes the R's look dysfunctional. Yeah, I know, they already looked dysfunctional, but still. The McCarthy/Gaetz fight is pretty wild.

Worth blanket coverage? Enough to blot out everything else happening today? I don't think so. I think they are so afraid of being criticized by rightwingers that they always go overboard with anything seen as bad for Dems.

Again, I agree it is newsworthy. But enough to push all other news off the airwaves for hours at a time?

This will be the only gun case MAGA will approve of. And no one in the media will question their hypocrisy.

Currently the Republican Party has a fire sale going on and the corporate media is trying to salvage that morally bankrupt party versus promoting a better, more democratic vision of the world.

They have inherent financial conflicts of interest which they NEVER disclose on any number of critical issues affecting the American People and world at large.

I've said it before and I will say it again, the corporate media is the CORPORATE media.

Thanks for spelling it out so clearly. Once you understand that, everything falls into place. The problem is they create so much noise that it is hard for the average person to see what is right in front of them.

New news gets top billing. This is new. It's not about guttering the president. It's reporting details (and probably emerging ones ... I haven't been watching TV). In light of the plea deal that fell apart, things will be discussed. (I really don't like pundits much.) It will drop off the front pages. But newspapers and especially TV will run with this for a while. TV, especially, focuses on breaking (sometimes clickbait) news. But things will iron themselves out.

(To those wondering, I worked in newspapers for over 35 years.)

When people watch something, the money listens.

When people don't watch something, the money listens harder. (see: Licht)

Every morning, I wake up at 5am and do a quick sweep around the internet. When I come here, there are already multiple threads about cable news, complaints about the hosts, the guests, the choice of stories, etc. They're all so awful!

And then the next morning I come back, and there are more threads.

Complaining but still consuming a product simply begets more of that product.

Keeping a live camera on a podium with no speaker for over an hour waiting for the ultimate asshole to show up and horrify everyone.

I think we need to call them up and complain, a lot.
