I've seen reports on the TV this morning that Boebert apologized for "bad behavior" and "lying." I've seen them run the video, but at a distance with the R rated part obscured. No mention of the groping.
She's an R, so they treat her with kid gloves. I know, in a way it's surprising that they even cover it. But they need to cover the WHOLE thing. She loves to critique others for imaginary bad behavior, and she is literally putting on an R rated show for an entire packed auditorium with (I assume) kids in the audience.
Sorry, corporate media. We see through you. If you only cared about ratings, you would cover the whole story and it would be a ratings bonanza. Plus, it IS newsworthy. So the only reason you're not is to protect the republicans. It's obvious.

But every news account makes it seem as if she apologized for the groping, too.

(58,785 posts)belief allusion to this slimy low-life behavior (just enough to enable those who want more to look up details).
Evening news mention anywhere but CO? No way.
And social media factions carpet bombing each other over this is not a new event or issue.
That a congresswoman running for reelection was required to apologize for personal behavior is a political event, but except for CO may not justify air time on its own at this point. Stick a pin in it, as Rachel might say if she mentioned it.
Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the videos and watching the fallout. And not worrying in the least that RW-serving media can contain this.
senseandsensibility
(25,515 posts)and believe me, I do find this distasteful, but she makes it her business to critique others for their personal behavior. Most of that is slander made up about our trans brothers and sisters. So I think it's newsworthy.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)gratifying that she's so incredibly caught out this time. As Rick Wilson posted, "Why is it shocking she lacks public decorum or civility? She's one notch from throwing her feces on the House floor."
Btw, my standards for myself aren't nearly as high as for political hosts. This is a hoot! It'd be even better if she'd finished up by tripping on the stairs outside and spraining her boobs.
I agree entirely about those with special interests, and let's give a particular mention to hair-on-fire self-anointed "Christian morality" fascists. And above all her constituents. Special interest media will be covering it.
It's all over print media, including spread by the wire services, so I'm assuming it's time-constrained shows,, cable, tv, etc, that are limiting coverage. And of course evening news. This really isn't family material even if they had the time.
Its tabloid nature does, of course, provide excuse for those MSM who're trying to keep Republicans in power to ignore completely. But they can't contain THIS!

(3,991 posts)It wasnt tobacco? It IS Colorado. I guess I would be more upset about the "groping" if I had my kids there and they had a line of sight, but it really doesnt bother me that much. Now her whole entitled attitude really bugs me. She just bugs me in general. Lets use the magat philosophy: let the voters decide. Would you want her making decisions that affect you? Breakups can be really bad and they can really mess with your whole being. That said, you still have to face the music for your actions noatter what emotional state you are in. She is a public figure and loves all the perks that go along with that. She is now in the finding out phase of FAFO, I guess.

(22,882 posts)I can't remember where I read that or back it up with a link, but here's a source that confirms so-called e-cigarettes being included in Colorado state laws that prohibit smoking in indoor public spaces: https://www.publichealthlawcenter.org/resources/us-e-cigarette-regulations-50-state-review/co
forgotmylogin
(7,964 posts)...in a large public indoor event with people stuck next to each other it basically equates to "I can see the air that person exhaled and now it's in my face...hope they don't have Covid..." It can still be intrusive.
Exhaled vapor does not linger, is not burned or ignited, and does not smell like smoke (it may have an artificial flavoring you can smell - which might be "tobacco flavor" but it could also be mint or fruit flavors) so it may be permitted in some indoor locations. Sometimes bars will permit it if it's not crowded and you get an okay from the bartender, and I have friends who will allow vaping in their house as long as they know you. If you can smell secondhand vapor it is not smoke, but still contains any germs or viruses exhaled by the user.
I vape and I would never do it indoors around people who aren't okay with it. In a theater you can't get permission from everyone. Outdoors I still stand away from people and avoid blowing it toward them, observing etiquette as if it were smoke.

Sorry, folks. I recorded the last 3 hours of CNN and just went through it . Not even a mention. It is being swept under the rug in a way that it never would have been with a Dem.
Edited to add I did see one mention, but no mention of the R rated part, sticking only to what Boebert herself has admitted.

(53,444 posts)with the same hair color and style and the same body type? It is clearly her grouping a man in front of children. She is on record as wanting drag queens arrested for so much as being in drag around children.
