Twitter (X) to start charging all users for access

Elon Musk revisiting an idea apparently floated privately in the past -- charging *everyone* to use Twitter.

My two cents: Twitter users would collapse to almost zero the second they start charging.

Or is he just trying to assemble an echo chamber/army and working to find that last straw?

Putin had plenty of cash to keep his bots rolling. The payback is well worth it. And their voice grows stronger when you consider the percentage of real people that will leave.

I'm happy to see Musk keep pounding more nails into the coffin lid of the-platform-formerly-known-as-Twitter.

These rich morons living in their bubbles!

Surely someone in his world can point out to him a simple reality: his "base" of users he has to rely on have no interest in selling articles or getting clicks

Shitposters, other riff-raff spoiling all social media platforms. I would happily pay for access to social media to see less toxic content posted by creeps which of course draws many thousands of views and likes. Others may not agree but terms of service is just not enough.

I'm not paying for it. Nope. Not a chance.

It really will turn the lights out and it will become an echo chamber for the far right and russian bots. Probably some bots from other countries as well.

I now have Mastodon, Threads, Spoutible (I think) and Post. Will go where everyone else goes.

If he's serious, it might be the motivation that's needed for about 70% of us to switch.
