The event raised $2.2 million for Kennedy: $1 million for the campaign and $1.2 million for a PAC supporting the candidate.
I am deeply grateful to Eric Clapton for bringing his musical artistry and rebellious spirit to my gathering in Los Angeles last night, Kennedy said in a statement. I sometimes think that in our divided society, it is music rather than any kind of intellectual agreement that has the most potential to bring us together again.
The presidential candidate continued, Eric sings from the depths of the human condition. If he sees in me the possibility of bringing unity to our country, it is only possible because artists like him invoke a buried faith in the limitless power of human beings to overcome any obstacle.

(815 posts)So disappointed Eric went off the rez, but he's still my guitar god. Going to two-day Crossroads Festival in LA this weekend.
Let's not do to him what happened to Dixie Chicks...total over reaction.
And yes, he did write alot of his own stuff.

(61,033 posts)Any way to expel him from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
I know there isn't, it's just a thought since the Hall took action agains racist and misogynist Jann Wenner recently.
And RFK jr. is only running to hurt Joe Biden and help republicans. What a disgrace to his name and family.

(61,033 posts)just knew he's supposed to be one of the better guitarists and bought the recording he did with BB King, a great guitarist, back in the early '00s I believe it was.
If BB was still alive I bet he'd regret ever working with Clapton.

(8,982 posts)Many guitarists that know more than I feel the same. Clapton's style hasn't changed an iota since the late 60s. All of his hits, except for 'Tears in Heaven' (Crocodile Tears in Heaven) were written by other artists. He joins Mike Love as the most detested man in R&R.

(61,033 posts)I like Chuck Berry too, one of the early rockers.
I'm not a great judge of guitarists, just attracted to the sound of great rock licks on guitar like Keith Richard produces.
What do you think of his and Ron Woods' work?
tenderfoot
(8,982 posts)But we can add Eddie Van Halen, Zappa, Robert Cray (who totally blew off Clapton publicly a few years ago), Duane Alman, Buddy Guy, etc.

We spliced in some visual footage of George Benson, but that was all us doing that track.

(27,742 posts)Kennedy is a mentally impaired piece of shit. He lies when he's called out about the stupid shit he's on record saying. Clapton is a chinless overrated jackass. Player like John Bonamassa and even random YouTubers leave that chinless geezer in the dust.
