For anyone's hair to be on fire.

I think Roe is going to have a bigger impact than anyone thinks. Let's see what Kentucky does. Louisiana will be my next watch. Mississippi and the southern NJ counties election results mean more to me at this point in the game.

As women’s access to full health care is strangled in so many states (Hell, TOO many!), it’s bound to make a difference.

And every time I get worried about the polls, I remind myself that “those in the know” were rock-solid sure the Repubs were gonna sweep it in 2022. The tidal wave of red they were all predicting turned out to be a dribble.

Besides, pretty much every off-year election so far went to the Dems. In some cases, by A LOT.

And I don't see it going well for the right, either way the decision goes down. Either they'll throw gas on the fire that the Dobbs decision started, or they'll disappoint their base if they pause in the war against women's autonomy.

I just have basic cable, so I don’t get the cable news channels and I’m glad of it. But I do check out the broadcast evening news just for a couple minutes and see what they’re leading with.I’m giving up on the Sunday morning talk shows, though

And National polls are useless compared to battleground State polls. I’ve only seen one battleground State poll, conducted in NH several days ago by CNN, and Biden was up by 12 points.

overwhelmingly Democratic.
I've been volunteering a lot, often work with 20-30 year olds. Their involvement in the process, commitment to this country and enthusiasm for candidates and issues is wonderful to see. Top two issues are women's health and restoring choice, and the climate crisis. I do believe they will show up and bring Democratic sweeps.

However, in 2020 the MSM and Faux Snooze whipped the crazies into believing there was a big red wave coming. It had the effect of fueling the crazy hyperventilation and lies about the election being stolen. Ultimately, this was a big part of what caused the attack on J6. Now they are doing it again and no one will stop this madness. It's infuriating!!

Yeah, and here we are.

I'm not panicking or in any kind of freak out mode about next year - I still don't have a firm grasp on how the race will ultimately take shape, and I don't think we'll know for another six or so months. We really and honestly are not in a place to confidently predict anything yet.

But I do like identifying potential problems sooner rather than observe them when they arrive as much bigger problems later.

"Relax" is how we end up fucked (see: Oh, I dunno, 2016 maybe?).

There's a middle ground between relax and freak out. I prefer to inhabit that one.

Insistence on Happy Talk causes problems down the road, as I hope we're all now exhaustively familiar with.

Nor am I asking anyone else for that matter.

But I do have a problem with not acknowledging potential problems if not outright denying they exist. The polls won't tell us what will happen next November. But that can be signals for, "You might want to pay attention to this or address this probably or nip this in the bud."

That's why political parties are always conducting their own polls as well.

27. The entertainment shows.
Sun Sep 24, 2023, 05:49 PM
Sep 2023

Have to do this. CNN, FOX, MSNBC, ABC, BBC even PBS to some extent, PBS has never fully recovered from the Tomlinson period and the chaos he brought w/ him.

Yes, IMO they are entertainment shows. You know what you are getting when you sit down to watch one. The 1 or 2 that try to be neutral still have to answer to their network corporate desires and congress but still fall short of the past when “News” was fact and how it played didn’t matter, it was news and if you ever watched a Walter Cronkite broadcast you know what I am referencing.

Today if you only get a mild bias from the talking head a show can be informative and worth the time but some of the others are off the wall just pure Jerry Springer + Entertainment Tonight on steroids mainlined straight into the brain.

But ALL of the shows have to do this. No one would watch if the truth were broadcast.

IMO the truth is that the republican party and it’s base is probably only still alive as a political party today because the networks need them and the Dems and that it’s actual size it a fraction of what we are led to believe w/o GOP gerrymandering and election nefariousness they would not win an election. DT has even said this in one his moments of streaming insanity likewise the gop still has a base and supporters because SOOO fucking much the networks don’t / won’t report.

Networks are happy to give a sex trafficking GOPer air time / print space to lecture us on how we may have to have a “government shutdown” or the latest melt down by trailer park T goper rep. from Colorado instead of what these asshole have done and the fucking laundry list of shit that has gone on is endless and disgusting and most of it Treason… but we don’t hear this from Networks they need the competition, the fighting of the 2 party’s or no one watches, no one visits their websites click, click, click….

We don’t hear about the things that would demand action be taken. All we get are drips of it from some one who was there doing all this shit when they write a book.

Has a full not-redacted version of Mueller's report ever been released, I’ve never heard that one has. The levels of depravity that had to take place inside the previous administration, an administration that openly/knowingly called a deadly virus a HOAX daily, hourly when at the very same time 1000’s of Americans were dying a horrible death…alone. DT & Co. had the balls to do this out in the open…what went on behind closed doors must have been much much worse so much so that if reported on would demand actions by President Biden, Garland and the Democratic Party.

But no one would watch a 1 horse race.

Ever since that horrible night in November 2016 I've been tense.

Especially since Trump and his fascist cult refuses to go away.

But my motto now is, "worry, don't panic."
Defeating Trumpism is a marathon not a sprint.
