Thank you, MIRT

I know there is a new team on duty now, and I just wanted to say thanks for deleting RobertMcNamara. I just saw a stupid RW post from this "person" and he got yanked before I could actually reply, but it was their 15th post, I think. What kind of firkin' user name is that anyway?

No doubt there are many trolls in our midst here. It's hard to catch them all. But thanks for revoking some of them.

Elections are those certain times.

They can lay dormant between elections. But some post a little bit in between to get their post counts up, and make a few snuggly posts to make "friends" on DU. That makes it harder to tombstone them when they finally start to show their true colors.

The MIRT team is so amazing they blow me away! I was on the MIRT team for one term about a year ago, and it was an eye opening experience, the things people will come up with to try to seem legitimate, and slip something by. It made me love DU even more to see how truly brilliant some of our DUers are at keeping us safe. I didn't sign up again because I've been slammed with work and personal life for the past year and a half, but I'm glad I did it when I had the opening in my life.

I have noticed the same patterns of behavior in posts. I have also noticed that the numbers of sleepers coming to life have been increasing lately.

It took up a ton of my time. Time well-spent, and it was my choice, but a ton of time. I'm sure glad there is SOME group like that, or we would be overrun by these assholes.

There is a large learning curve and after my term there is still stuff I need to study but what a cool and eye-opening experience. For newbies to MIRT, follow your returnees/experienced folks, they are gold. Don't repeat my mistake of jumping right in and getting my hat handed to me. I am a can-do type, this generally has served me well but I got scrunched my first day. Watch and learn so you can do some scrunching of your own. (is scrunching a word)

You were eager to jump in with both feet before reaching consensus among the other MIRT members, IIRC.

I thought you did great. Everyone learns at a different pace. I took my time before casting my first troll into the fire.

Hope you're doing well, PS.

Btw, scrunch is defined as "making a loud crunching sound." I didn't hear a thing. 😁

During my tenure there, I deferred judgement on a few that got through that probably shouldn't have done so, and I always wanted to err on the side of inclusion, but yes, some bad asses do show up here, and the work they do on the MIRT team is fabulous, and the volunteers, committed to keeping DU beautiful are wonderful people.

thanks to our ever alert MIRT teams. It's one reason the site was knocked down the night TFG was shoved into office against the will of the majority.

It's also why the site stays so civil. You're not supposed to reply to trolls, they're here to get you banned.

IMHO and all that. A founding Eagles member dies and you create an account on the same day with username "IHateTheEagles_Man" and post a naked pic. But hey, maybe that's all he'll ever post..
