MT:The first question is, did he actually buy the gun? The reason why we have to ask this is that he has, on more than one occasion, loudly proclaimed that he was buying food for people only to have them later report that it was never actually paid for by Trump or his campaign.
Trump campaign guy who filmed the video of Trump saying he wanted to buy the gun quickly deleted it. Thankfully, the NRA screen recorded it for us.
Not to worry, because shortly thereafter Marge Greene and her boyfriend, Right Side Broadcasting's Brian Glenn, confirmed that they were present and he did purchase the gun. They were asserting this to gush over the fact that Trump was demonstrating what a strong supporter he was of gun rights.
The problem for Trump is, both he and the gun shop owner may have just committed federal felonies on camera since Trump is under multiple indictments.
18 U.S.C. 922(d)(1) makes it a crime for anyone to sell a firearm to a person under felony indictment:
Section 922(d)(1) makes it unlawful to sell or otherwise dispose of a firearm to a person who is under indictment for, or has been convicted in any court of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year.
18 U.S.C. 922(n) makes it a crime to for a person under indictment to either ship or transport a firearm from one place to another, or to receive any firearm which has been shipped in interestate commerce:
It shall be unlawful for any person who is under indictment for a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year to ship or transport in interstate or foreign commerce any firearm or ammunition or receive any firearm or ammunition which has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.
Perhaps what makes this even worse is that the Attorney General of South Carolina proudly posed with Trump as he was saying that he was buying the pistol.

(130,398 posts)in United States v. Quiroz. A federal district court judge in Texas (a TFG appointee, of course) held that a statute making a gun purchase by someone who has been indicted but not yet convicted illegal, is a violation of the 2nd Amendment. Oral argument was in February; the opinion has not yet been released. It is likely to go to the Supreme Court, regardless of the outcome.

(2,973 posts)so I think he only held a gun--he did not purchase a gun or take possession /ownership of a gun.

(4,557 posts)If any paperwork was filled out (the 4473) it would need to be done in Florida after the gun was sent to a licensed dealer there.

(3,363 posts)...with his criminal status, should he even be owning one? This scares me. It's not a dog whistle, it's a foghorn.

Did he intend to purchase the weapon? Was he in possession of it?

(620 posts)saying the same here as in another thread. He cant buy the gun in SC, he is a state of florida resident. He could pay for it, they would ship it to a gun shop in florida. The back ground check would happen in florida. If he was honest on the paperwork the shop would not even try to do the background check. if he lied on the paperwork, it would be the same crime as they are saying Hunter did.
So until the gun went to florida and he lied on the background check paperwork he has not committed a crime.

(43,302 posts)Don't be surprised to see yet another superceding indictment from Jack Smith between now & May 2024, with further incriminating counts of the slobfather's threats, attempts to witness tamper, and general menace to society.
FOR ANY ONE OF THESE ACTS, ANY OTHER AMERICAN WOULD ALREADY BE HAULED INTO FEDERAL COURT AND MARCHED INTO PRE-TRIAL DETENTION.
