"SNIP.........

A new Pew Research poll finds that 65% of Americans “say the way the president is elected should be changed so that the winner of the popular vote nationwide wins the presidency.”

“A third favor keeping the current Electoral College system.”

“The current electoral system in the United States allows for the possibility that the winner of the popular vote may not secure enough Electoral College votes to win the presidency. This occurred in both the 2000 and 2016 elections, which were won by George W. Bush and Donald Trump, respectively.”

Republicans and leaning Repubs who identify as conservative want to keep the Electoral College by a 63-36 margin. Numbers for moderate to liberal Republicans and lean Repub (all 4 of them I guess) are reversed, wanting a popular vote by a 63-36 margin, more in line with national numbers. Democrats who identify as liberal want a popular vote by an 88-10 margin, 70% of voters under 30 want it, as do 77% of conservative to moderate Democrats.

Republicans would NEVER win another presidency and they know it! That is why all the cheating and dirty tricks around it abound. The EC is a joke, a vestige of a long ago time. It is long past time that power is returned to the people of the United States and not just a handful. But are the Democrats up to the task? I don't think so. And while we are at it, 11 Scotus judges. It's the ONLY way we can regain power for all the people.

According to you the power must be'' returned to the people''. So,, at what point in time did ''the people'' elect the president by popular vote and who took this right away and when?

The last two republican presidents lost the popular vote totals

And both were huge crooks that damaged America

The people voted correctly but the republicans gamed the system.
No wonder republicans love the EC

2004 the republicans owned the voting machines and there were a great deal of questions coming out of Ohio concerning the vote counts there.

It can be said they gamed the system in 2004

Is that the new voting machines bought by bush in 2002, mostly all electronic, are now illegal in many states. Widespread use of paper ballots in 2008 elected Obama by a huge margin.

The company ES&S, which is republican owned, used to count the votes in Arizona and Georgia until 2018. When the new company Dominion counters were used in those two states those two states turned from red to blue.

Weird, huh?

Dominion was attacked like no others in the history of voting.

Its votes were recounted over and over again.

If it was bad it would not have won the lawsuit against fox

republicans never complain about their victories on ES&S machines just when they lose on Dominion's. ES&S is owned by republicans

Ergo, the natural attraction to republicans.

Let me ask a silly question. Why would republicans be opposed to one person, one vote in a presidential election. The person who gets the most votes wins. Why the hell would anyone be opposed to that in the land of the free?

Republicans have lost 7 of the past 8 popular votes for President. That’s just downright unamerican to the fake patriots.

they want to continue with minoritarian rule until even then tjey lose--then they want to end democracy. pretty obvious now.

Tech billionaires want a dystopian hellscape of anarchy throughout North America with virtually no laws protecting regular people.

They are not noted for having a great football team or any sports teams unlike so many of our colleges that seem to be just sports schools

They don't advertise on TV or radio

They are a public institution that is owned by the American people

Many of their former members were people of renown

They are the only College where there are no oddball professors - or any professors

They survive on donations from the rich elite

They don't waste money on buildings and not one of their buildings is named for a rich donor.

They don't charge tuition

They did their job in the last election even though it was during Covid

They are a College that is different so they provide diversity from the standard four year colleges

They are such a desirable institution that many applicants have attempted to dishonestly matriculate but all were turned down.

This was installed when Americans might not be able to get to the polls or without reliable transportation, so it was necessary for representatives to bring the voting consensus to the Capitol. This hasn't been necessary for decades.
