(82,849 posts)To an unprepared witness. And she's right; there are no alternative proposals from Republicans, just a lot of griping about the border, and proposed cuts to the Border Service budget. Oh, and an ongoing desire to shoot blindly into Mexico just because.

(2,966 posts)where there is a presidential ticket of KP and AOC. Or at the very least have them eventually become powerful senators. The sooner the better!
They just rule.

(11,780 posts)What a useless political party. All they do is obstruct and criticize. I sure hope we see a blue wave next election, the rethugs just need to go away.

(6,882 posts)We have a huge pool of talented young women - Jayapal, Underwood, AOC.
Dems have a deep bench in Congress (and out with governors like Gretchen Whitmer)

(18,404 posts)Not all young (Underwood and AOC are 36 and 33, respectively, and Pramila Jayapal is 58, although she's only been in Congress a couple of years younger than the other 2) but smart, savvy, and dedicated. I am thrilled to have all of them on our side!

(2,388 posts)There is no free compassion available from the Republican side. Not even for votes, for votes they are willing to let their own die of covid. Since their base votes on hate and their money comes in with disaster, a solution would be the farthest thing from what they want. They were happy with children separated from their parents and kept in cages.
Bless AOC for continuing to expose this, but one should not expect a single Republican to do the right thing without being paid to do the right thing. For them, kindness and mercy for free, sends the wrong message.

Canada is providing thriving democracies with so many lessons, left side policy lessons at actual real world work
and proven to be working for the People
Canadian mass media is mostly equally unimpressed with this successful large scale economic experiment
too many not Europeans
cant see any other reason for the personalized anti-Trudeau mania thats taken grip.

(71,562 posts)ya know, i heard an author on fresh air a long time ago, several yrs. he was a neurologist making the case that law needs to catch up w science. that there are many things that override reason, not just the couple axis 1s that count in court.
so many flavors of nuts than the 1s the shrinks dx.
1 of his examples was a woman who was put on prednisone, became a compulsive gambler, spent all the money then ran up credit cards. ruined her marriage, went bankrupt.
this is a KNOWN side effect- loss of impulse control. sometimes rage, sometimes other risky behavior.
should have been able to plead diminished capacity, but couldnt.
that starts happening and maybe docs r a little more careful.
