So are TFG's latest misstatements trending towards dementia?

Windmills killing whales, electric boat motors killing people...

He's always said crazy things but it seems like he's turned a corner here.

Anyone with knowledge of dementia?

He's a world class champion bullshitter that can't be blamed on impairment.

One, he's so completely ignorant of day to day things that would be common sense to most people... he thinks you have to show ID to buy milk in a grocery store FFS. Two, he's just so accustomed to saying any ridiculous bullshit and repeating it over and over in the face of clear-cut evidence to the contrary. Its hard to see where baffling ignorance and bullshit lies stop and dementia begins in his case.

it's more than the expected projection of his crimes and twisted intent.

Found on the internet ( on DU? )

Trump “said you need an ID to buy bread. Has anyone shown ID to get Wonder bread lately? He said that he ran against Obama in 2016. He ran against Hillary Clinton,” noted Tarlov. “He warned that Biden will get us into World War II, which I’m pretty sure we already fought and won. And yesterday, he confused Jeb Bush and George W. Bush and said Jeb got us involved in the Middle East.”

he listens to them and repeats their craziness. From climate change is a hoax to ivermectin and beyond. He doesn’t make these things up. He hears them from his cadre of right wing nut jobs.

instead of details that he is bad at remembering. His models no longer work as the details are taking over (legal liabilities). So it all comes crashing down.

from one of our DUers. I found it insightful, despite the limitations of diagnosis at a distance.

"A thought for the morning...
I’m aware that many individuals cast aspersions upon this type of diagnosing by video, but in this case, the manifestations are just overwhelming.

This guy is decompensating very very quickly. All the defenses he built around himself for 70+ years are collapsing simultaneously, and he will be absolutely unable to withstand the somatic as well as mental tidal wave of disturbance, which is going to overwhelm him.

We know virtually for a fact that he has severe bowel control issues which are,I am nearly certain, secondary to severe psychological distress and pathology. Despite what he may say, or others may say about his calmness and stability during these “troubled times“, he is fast unraveling.

My prediction, and I may well be wrong, is that one day relatively soon he is going to cancel one of his so-called rallies, and things are going to go quiet for an indefinite period of time. They will probably say that he’s preparing his courtroom defenses, but in fact, he will be vegetating in an undisclosed location within his rundown palace.

No human being, rational or otherwise, could withstand this amount of pressure no matter what their pathology is, no matter what the degree of narcissism is. No matter how invulnerable he thought he was , he is on the fast track to full dysfunction and it is becoming increasingly apparent that the water is circling ever-faster in the toilet bowl."

But I would expect him to keep it as little known as he could.

He has always been out-of-touch crazy. He doesn't know what life is like for real people.

But to say that ocean animals are being killed by windmills - well there's a real disconnect there. You can't figure out how he came up with that. Are the whales going to the windmills, or are the windmills on the ocean?

In most situations a family member would quietly escort a man like him offstage, take them to a doctor, and make the announcement of dementia. After that you pretty much keep that person out of public view.

Since the whole family is either alienated or in denial, nobody is going to do that for Trump. Nobody is doing it for Rudy. So they decompensate in the full view of the public while the audience is pretending its not happening.

"Say anything to get what I want/come out on top" blathering of a narcissist to me.

When a narcissist feels threatened, they don't care if what comes out of their mouth is true or makes sense--as long as it gets them what they want in the moment.

I've said this elsewhere, but I have first hand experience with this sort of thing. My narcissist mum always--ALWAYS--says or does "crazy" stuff when she's losing an argument with me. She's made up that such and such "source" supported what she said--when the source never did such a thing. She's lied that people reacted more positively to a movie she liked than they actually did. Or she'll say things like, oh, "Who cares what you think? You're fat and ugly, so you're too stupid to know anything." Or she'll toss about something I did 50 years ago that she's ***still*** holding a grudge about, some incident I would have forgotten long ago...if she didn't drag it out to throw in my face, any time she needs to demean me to prop up her ego. Or she's been known to get violent. Once, she grabbed me and shook me so hard my teeth rattled and her nails cut my skin enough for blood to run down my arms.

Those are all the kinds of things narcissists will say and do to "win"--even to their own kids! Their need to be seen as perfect and powerful and all-knowing at all times is all that matters to them, and they will say anything, do anything to put themselves in that position no matter how ridiculous, dishonest or vicious.

But no matter what crazy thing they'll make up, it's not dementia. It's alwayss a calculated action to win and to hurt, so they can control and manipulate a situation to their benefit, in the here and now. It's deliberate.
