He has also promised to avoid the field of candidates already running for Feinstein’s seat, which was set to expire at the end of next year and includes Rep. Personally, I'd appoint Barbara Boxer. Alternatives would be Jackie Speier, although she is a former Representative.

Too important a period of time to appoint someone who doesn't know the Senate or at least Congress.

Karen Bass just got elected as mayor of LA and she is needed there. The only other black woman I can think of is Maxine Waters.
