While horrible humanity tries to do away with it, we secured it for 250 years. And the youngins will carry on.
Im an old swabbie but Army General Milley brought a tear to my eye during his retirement speech. WE DIDNT SWEAR AN OATH TO A WANNABE DICTATOR. No. We didnt.
General Milley spoke truth to limpness today. Trump has been fucking around his whole life. He is approaching the find out stage. Im certain.

(18,127 posts)and swearing loyalty to any one person, I may be a bit long in the teeth and don't remember some things very well, but my Oath was to the Constitution of the United States of America.
Gen. Milley's retirement speech was the best I've ever heard and this old Marine stands with him.

(72,305 posts)You protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. Bottom line. Traitor Flynn could learn a thing or two from re-reading the wording of his oath.
My oath never expired. I stand for ALL Americans, regardless of color, religion, gender, or sexual orientation.

(20,384 posts)Ill never forget that day in Oakland when I swore my oath. The most serious thing I had ever done up to that point. Still proud that I did it. But it was to my country and its Constitution I swore that oath, not, as Gen. Milley said, to some wannabe dictator.
It breaks my heart and pisses me off when I come across MAGA Vets. Just cant wrap my head around their attraction to and support for him.

(340 posts)Proud Veteran here, too. I was just shy of 51 years old when I took my Oath. I meant it then, and abide by it now. Thank you for preparing the way for me.

(1,051 posts)I swore my oath many 38 years ago. Gen. Milley sure has the attributes that were needed during the reign of Trump. We are damn lucky he does and was that position in critical moments.

My father was flew in B 17s in WW2 and was seriously wounded. We were and are both proud of our military service.
I never dreamed that the greatest threat to the USA and democracy would come from a lying, convicted rapist ....I could add more descriptions but we all know what that bastard stands for.
Right now I am very sad as I just got in a fight with my son ..a Trumper..and I have to say I am becoming alienated from my daughter-in-law who is the same way.
I have not spoken to my sister for over a year after she told me Jan 6th was peaceful and the election was stolen. Seems like most of the people I know are in love with Trump and I live in a Blue state.. It's damned depressing! What is it with this country and what is Trump's magic power to deceive people?
I can accept differences of opinion , but I cannot accept anyone that supports Trump and today's GOP who are the biggest threat to this nation since the Civil War..

(16,385 posts)I had a grandpa, great uncle, and great aunt who are all three veterans of WW2. They helped to defeat fascism 78 years ago and I bet theyre rolling in their graves due to the embrace of fascism by many US citizens. We must defeat Trump next November. We have no other choice.
