House GOP members are seeking to quickly expel Gaetz if the ethics report comes back with findings of guilt.
Following threats to vacate McCarthy, one tells me No one can stand him at this point. A smart guy without morals.
Maybe just wishful thinking but hope springs eternal.

(9,914 posts)Time for the Senate and House leadership of both parties to put their heads together and develop a plan of action. Once ejected, those two can then share cab fare out of town and go into permanent hiding.

(71,465 posts)run and win in the end. And the GOP won't vote to kick him out for whatever reason so why waste time and energy? We don't have the votes. We can't run him again as a candidate and I don't think he will win a primary.

Frankly, Gaetz isn't any worse than any of them. They are all the worst people they could find.

(8,753 posts)thanks to our Democratic House leadership and caucus (Jeffries/Aguilar/Garcia/Swalwell/Raskin/Moskowitz/Crockett/Frost/Connelly) and the numerous real-time left leaning podcasts, clowns Gaetz/Jordan/McCarthy and their revenge fueled shit show crusade to save Donald Trump's ass, are front and center every hour of every day...we're not seeing a scary cohesive GOP House...instead we have front row seats to a middle school mean girl cat fight...

BREAKING: Trumper Matt Gaetz is hit with devastating news as reporters reveal that the House Ethics Committee just reopened its investigation into the allegations that Gaetz had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid her to travel with him.
But it gets worse for Gaetz
The committee will investigate whether Gaetz engaged in sexual misconduct and/or illicit drug use, shared inappropriate images or videos on the House floor, misused state identification records, converted campaign funds to personal use, and/or accepted a bribe, improper gratuity, or impermissible gift, in violation of House Rules, laws, or other standards of conduct."
The Ethics Committee hasnt decided yet whether it will launch a special investigative subcommittee to escalate the investigation but it says that, if it does, the committee will announce it to the public and make the results of the investigation public.
The investigation into Gaetz child sex-trafficking had stalled but this Congressional investigation might be EXACTLY what is needed to jumpstart it again.

(21,382 posts)Paxton proves Repukes cannot self police. Perhaps a shot across the bow in Gaetz's bid to oust McCarthy over the stopgap spending bill, but Gaetz isn't the only member of the nut caucus unhappy with McCarthy on that.

Question is, what are the Dems going to do if McCarthy's speakership comes up for a vote? The nut caucus needs Dem votes to oust him. Repukes can't get a majority on their own as some, particularly those in vulnerable districts, will side with McCarthy, if only to keep a lid on the crazy before the 2024 elections. And remember, November will be here shortly and we're back to shutdown threat again. Do the Dems vote to oust so they can take advantage of the chaos that will cause in Republican ranks? Politically, the smart move in my mind, but might increase the risk of a November shutdown. Or do they side with McCarthy in hope of striking a deal to avoid a shutdown?

(18,579 posts)They already saved him on the budget. 91 Republicans voted against the expention.
9 Senators.

(1,111 posts)I think its a case of the devil you know vs. the devil you dont.
McCarthy is even more compromised than he was before and therefore more politically pliable.
In addition, working across the aisle has the plus side of further marginalizing the Krazy Kaucus.
I think worse financial uncertainty is hard on folk and should be avoided.
In my opinion, Dems should continue to play rope-a-dope with McCarthy and take their gains where they can.
2024 is just around the bend.

(2,722 posts)too thwart this loser. Once they are past this, it will be back to business as usual, but he and his little gang are too out of control for anyone not insane or completely intent on destroying the Government to make it what they alone want. They aren't playing for a better country for everyone and just disagreeing how to get there, they are trying to seize absolute power and know they need to burn the whole thing down to get it. He has essentially positioned himself de-facto speaker of the house, and if they don't shut it down, then they will have essentially allowed him to take it,.They all have big egos and I can't see that sitting well with anyone.

(114,361 posts)but the expulsion of the reprehensible Gaetz wouldn't do him much damage, DeSatan would just appoint someone else just as bad to hold the seat until a special election.
I will be delighted to see Gaetz tossed out on his smarmy arse, it would give cretins like MTG one less enabler/cheerleader.
His district is up in the panhandle, no way they're going to vote for a Democrat.

(114,361 posts)and I sincerely doubt the replacement will be much of an improvement over Gaetz, he'll just have fewer enemies as he starts his Congressional career.
