If we stop viewing Republicans as a political party and see them as what they are - Russian-backed insurgents hell-bent on replacing our form of government - then this is not good news at all.
McCarthy built-in his own self destruct switch by allowing this vote to be called by one person. That sends a chill down my spine.
They're breaking the federal government on purpose so they can later say to the disinterested masses - see? It all needs to go.
This has Putin and Claremont Institute written all over it.
Sorry folks but this brief moment of schadenfreude isn't making me happy at all. If Trump is elected Speaker, he is 3rd in line, and becomes President automatically on Jan 6, 2025 if enough states like Wisconsin sabotage their own electoral votes.
We are in the midst of a full-on assault on democracy and every move Republicans make needs to be taken in that context.

but I do not have faith in this group to do anything so well planned. I hope you are not right and I am allowing myself to be optimistic.
