Joe Biden: According to a new book

According to a new book by Franklin Foer, Joe Biden isn't just the president of the United States, he is the West’s father figure, whom foreign leaders call for advice and look to for assurance.

Foer writes: "It was his calming presence and his strategic clarity that helped lead the alliance to such an aggressive stance, which stymied authoritarianism on its front lines. He was a man for his age.”

Yes, folks, President Biden is old. But he is also WISE and DECENT. Our allies see that and they value it.

Retweet if you are proud to have a president with the wisdom to not only lead our nation, but the free world. I know I sure am. 🇺🇸

........................

I will be forever grateful to him as our President in these times.

I knew we were in for a tussle with fascism. I knew Joe Biden understood when he made that campaign stop at Warm Springs, Georgia and unveiled his basic campaign speech. It was like he was channeling FDR. Because he knew, he understands. What a marvelous mind linked to the highest levels of experience.

White House photographers.

Of course it helps that most of them have been quite easy on the eyes. LBJ wasn't, but even Truman was cute in a nebbishy sort of way.

And have for some time.

The plan was for Putin to invade Ukraine, China to invade Taiwan.
Putin screwed up that plan for the time being.

But China will make a play for Taiwan.

the substory of Hillary Clinton's agony over what would happen to her "white scarves" was so moving and upsetting that I had to stop reading for a short time and resume later.

I think DUers will appreciate this book. Foer is not worshipful of Biden but I think he's fair. He humanizes him rather than knock him down.

...that I was going to vote D in 2020 because of who the opposition was. (For the first nearly 20 years of my voting life, I voted R. Mea culpa!) I saw one of his drive-thru rallies (no, he was not in his basement) and was struck by his empathy and kindness. President Biden knows loss - his first wife and two of his children - and really understood what we as a nation were going through with covid. I as an essential home health aide truly appreciated his attitude...and still do. Sure he has his flaws - who doesn't? - but I truly believe he is a decent person above all. That's what counts.

He has always been a very strategic thinker. His move to cancel some amount of student debt before the last election was brilliant. That and the Roe decision saved us the Senate despite the media's fake polls and propaganda.
