(13,424 posts)Even in their front page stories, often with a Maggie Haberman by-line, the story will focus on something absurd and bury the damaging info in a paragraph in the middle or near end. They have been acting as a PR damage control news outlet for Trump but people continue to defend them.

(15,381 posts)The fact that we had a man in office who was actually prone to these jaw-dropping, mind numbing breaches of - not only common sense and decency, but also, as it turns out, national security and interests ...
Now that IS a story - and, sorry, but it continues to be a story.

(13,459 posts)Not his cult, but those who could be convinced to vote for Biden. Thats why this story is important and needs attention. Trump has shown that he has no care for US national security and is willing to share top-secret information with anyone because it makes him feel important. Thats a necessary point to make about someone who wants to be president and have access to future top-secret information that he would be likely to share.

I'm not a military analyst, but I bet within a few hours research max, I can give you a good estimate of warheads, range, how steathly is the sub, etc.
Concentrate on what people are likely to see as a concern.

Tracking Submarines
"The worlds deadliest weapons are also the stealthiest. The United States, Russia, China, Britain, and France all have fleets of submarines that carry nuclear missiles. The most advanced of these subs are nearly undetectable and can stay submerged for months.
"A U.S. Trident nuclear submarine carries 24 missiles, each fitted with several independently targeted warheads. One of these subs carries enough explosive power to destroy every major metropolitan area in the Northern Hemisphere, according to the Federation of American Scientists.
"Today, the U.S. is by far the leader in sub-launched missile technology. But other nations, especially China and Russia, are trying to narrow the gap."

Here's some info by US Department of Defense:

And there are tons of similar articles.
Is there some super secret info? Sure. Do you think trump can remember that stuff? Doubt it.

I'm NOT for minimizing his espionage.

(12,623 posts)Nuclear subs move and they may return to their previous locations if the locations are NOT compromised.
I think you should get in a sub and we send you down to a location Trump has given away. A location that Russian subs frequent. Then we tell the Russians you are there, and see how safe you feel.
It's easy to risk someone else life and minimize other people's danger.

It IS news that tRump sold us all out, and for what? He's a fricking spy! It's on a whole different level from anything we have ever seen.
I'm upset that you are brushing this off like it doesn't matter. You think and feel whatever you want, but if you say that it isn't news, you're gonna get pushback.

The media is the reason we have donald trump to begin with.
I don't understand why these allegedly educated journalists don't see the threat to their own profession and perhaps their personal safety that the GOP poses.
If they can storm the House you think they can't find their way into the newsroom?

Newspapers generally dislike giving credit to other sources for stories. When the NYT has had a chance to write about the story, expect it to gain prominence.
Another possibility is that the NYT has also been working on the story, except they have many more details than ABC did.
Mick Jagger made the front page of The Wall Street Journal., if it's any consolation:

(114,573 posts)which is why my electronic subscription is to the WaPo. It was my local paper many years ago and I've always liked it, even when it lost its editorial mind during the Reagan years.
As for TFG, he's showing off his trophies. That's what those documents were to him, along with something to bargain with to keep his butt out of prison. Unfortunately for him, they are likely to put his butt into prison, more fool he.
Showing them off to the supper crowd at Mara Lardo probably didn't do any damage, I sincerely dout there are many nuclear phsicists and engineers amont that crowd, they run more to inherited money that passively attracted more money over the decades. The damage would have been done by one of the Russian or Chinese agents he's cultivated as inner circle who photographed them when he was concentrating on his beautiful chocolate cake with two scoops.

It's worth covering, but I'm not sure it's front page news.
The ball is in the government's court at this point. And that of the voters. Anyone who isn't braindead understands who Trump is, and that he doesn't think laws apply to him at all. Wrong decisions at this point can't be a consequence of ignorance.
