They have only Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise?
I would think a more moderate Republican might be able to negotiate a compromise with Democrats and take over the Speakership. Do Democrats think that Hakeem Jeffries might win with the division in the Republican caucus? I doubt that will ever happen.
If there is not an almost unanimous choice for Republicans, isn't it very likely that Patrick McHenry will continue to be the "acting Speaker"? Six months from now, he could still be the "acting Speaker", in my opinion.
They will not permit a Democrat to be Speaker so long as they have the majority. Do you think the Democrats are working behind the scenes to get a Speaker they can work with?
