(29,020 posts)You said she was unfit for office for saying this. Just like the wingnuts who said the same thing after her NO vote on War in Afghanistan. YOU mentioned Lee by name. YOU did. You are bashing a public DEm figure who has done no wrong.

(3,735 posts)i have a couple of friends in Israel. based on what they have said I dont think theres a power on earth that can stop israel from wiping out any hamas supporter.
One of them lived in the US during and after 9/11. In his view Israel will do whatever it takes. and will attack anyone they think had a hand in the attack. Just like what we did after 9/11 the average Israeli considers any action against Hamas to be justified now.
They think that if Hamas starts executing hostages then the Gaza will be flattened. They really dont care about the consequences.
LiberaBlueDem
(1,167 posts)just like what we did in Afghanistan after 9/11 was awful and solved nothing

(3,735 posts)and avoid a lot of civillian casualties. gaza is not much bigger than greater washington dc. plus i really dont think israel cares about avoiding civilian casualties in gaza right now.
Imagine if terrorists killed 30,000 americans on 9/1 instead of 3000. thats basically what has happened in israel.

For one, the people of Gaza are not free. Free people are less prone to support violence.

(45,792 posts)Do the masses of those living in Gaza support Hamas and its actions? If so, I have no sympathy for them. If a majority are truly "innocents" and not Hamas supporters, the reason that they can't rise up against Hamas is that Hamas controls them by threats of force.
Hamas was elected 17 years ago and hasn't allowed another election. Since 2007, the Israeli army has not had boots on the ground in Gaza; rather, Israel has blockaded Gaza as a defensive action in lieu of invading it. The only way that the situation changes is if Hamas is gone.

Who profits from Hamas? Warmongers like Hamas
For too long a dangerous game has been payed with Hamas and the captives of Gaza.
1,000 mad men invaded Israel and milllions of dollars worth of weapons have now been used.
There are indications that even the leaders of Israel were using Hamas politcally. Someone has allowed them to keep going and it's not just US nazis.
Only winners in all this are the weapon makers and a few politicians. Lets stop them. Crush Hamas and be done with them.

(3,735 posts)i think if israel took out the iran leadership the average iranian would celebrate. the country has been bordering on revolution for a while and while oil would spike immediately i dont think it would spike for long. my hunch is saudia arabia, irans mortal enemy would increase production a lot to limit price hikes.
they are pragmatists when you come down to it and they know a huge spike in oil prices would cause massive demand destruction and that demand might never come back. they will do whatever they can to prevent that

(45,792 posts)There was one poster that said that the price at the pump would be up 30-40 cents on Monday. I paid less on Monday than I did a week ago.
The recent high for a barrel of oil was $93.68 on September 27. It dropped to $81.28 on October 6. It climbed back to $86.57 early today, but has since dropped back down to below $86. In other words, its still more than $7 less than it was two weeks ago.
