But hope for hostages is pretty grim. Israel is going to level Gaza. I do hope they try some extractions prior and are successful.
To think Netanyahu knew about this and let it happen is crazy talk. No way would have he allowed this had he known. He will be weakened by this.
Israeli hostages will most likely die and so wont his political ambitions.

(1,983 posts)There were warnings about Pearl Harbor and 9/11, for example. And then conspiracy theories that FDR and GWB knew they were going to happen and then let them. My guess is that in almost every case, it was incompetence and not malice that caused people to ignore them.

(2,317 posts)And maybe German and British as well? I feel like theres going to be some sort of attempts to rescue them if they can determine locations.
Hamas is threatening to execute them and release videos of the execution, which seems like a rescue attempt is the way to go.

They targeted a festival with people from all over.
Why?

Blindsiding the US and Israel who possess the highest rated military and intel services.
They could have chosen any event and crowd to attack.
But they chose the festival with people from all over the world attending.
This is no coincidence. No coincidence at all.
Why do you think they did that?
Who does it benefit and how?

(7,598 posts)prisoners for one Israeli soldier.
The deal, brokered by Mossad official David Meidan through a secret back channel run by Gershon Baskin and Hamas Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Ghazi Hamad authorized by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on one side and Ahmed Jabari, head of Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades on the other side.[9] The list of prisoners to be released (based on previous work conducted by German and Egyptian mediators and coordinated by Bundesnachrichtendienst agent Gerhard Conrad),[10] was signed in Egypt on 11 October 2011. Its first phase was executed on 18 October 2011, with Israel releasing 477 Palestinian prisoners and Hamas transferring Shalit to Cairo.[11] In the second phase, which took place during December 2011, another 550 prisoners were released.[12]
The agreement is, to date, the largest prisoner exchange agreement Israel has ever made and the highest price Israel has ever paid for a single soldier.[13][14] Gilad Shalit was also the first captured Israeli soldier to be released alive in 26 years.[15]
