Until then that’s what they’re going to have to live with.

Also there is another thread where it’s being toss around blaming Palestinians for it (on X). I don’t want to add or give false information. Thank you for your post.

Either that, or Hamas enjoys enduring popular support.

I'm not arguing about whether it's true, because I have no idea. Knowing where this info came from would be very helpful.

how easy do you think it would be for the non-Hamas residents to kick out the terrorists and stay alive?

I dont think most of us here can imagine how incredibly complex such an operation would be, how many people would die in the process, or whether the results would even come close to being worth the cost.

I've seen so many opinions expressed at DU about this mess in the last couple of days, and a disturbing number of them do not seem to be based on any real understanding of how things got to this point or the history behind all of this.

I don't claim to have a very good understanding of the situation myself. I've been doing some reading to try and fill in some of the holes in my knowledge, but the more I learn, the less I realize I know. The only thing I can say with any degree of confidence is this: if there's anyone here who thinks there's a simple or straitforward solution to any of this, I believe they are quite mistaken.

Sorry to sound so negative, but I feel negative right now. I don't just see any possible outcome that isn't going to involve a tremendous loss of life and an ocean of human suffering on all sides.

This is why Hamas is successful in its recruiting in Gaza.

Money…a paycheck. They are without good jobs and thus without hope.

All these places supporting Hamas (like Iran) have plenty of land. I don't see any of them encouraging Gaza residents to emigrate or anything. I believe they just hate Israel and Jews and that's it. They could care less about the innocent civilians in Palestinian areas. They're basically cannon fodder.

The "who cares let it burn" philosophy reminds me of the GQP Eight. Just burn it down regardless of the cost.

(Not comparing what is happening to Congress but the philosophy seems similar).
