I suppose some on DU will claim it's propaganda.
Turn on the TV.

(263 posts)it was also disgraceful to see it on twitter too. Hamas are animals.

(11,120 posts)Not because it happened, but because a talking point has been removed from use. Once confirmation came, it was radio silence time.
People have gotten very weird very quickly about all this.
Ideology is trash.

(12,744 posts)First it was statistics about how many Palestinians have been killed over the past 20 years.
Then it was that Hamas doesn't represent all Palestinians.
Then it was that Gaza is filled with children so they couldn't possibly support Hamas.
Then it was that the atrocities were false flags.
Now it seems we're back to Israelis are bad too.

(12,744 posts)Now the argument is that it's just the same as bombing a building.
Me, I'm waiting for a Palestinian "leader" to denounce Hamas' action. After that talking point a couple days ago about Hamas not representing Palestine, I'd think someone would be speaking up to denounce their barbarism.

For those who wish to argue that some baby murders are worst than others (and perhaps even justified by God), you can pursue the following link at your own risk.

(11,202 posts)I read an article that several Middle Eastern Countries, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, had been warning Israel for a long time that something like this would happen. It has not helped that the Israelis have been involved with establishing illegal settlements in Palestinian territories and forcing them out of their part of the land.
Both sides have had their degrees of fault over the years, Hamas is far more brutal in their methodology. The world is Pickachu face about a violent attack that was totally foreseeable. It does not matter who you are or where you live, people will only take so much before they will fight back. If all sides cannot act rationally and realize that nobody will always get their way 100% of the time, nothing will really change.
Benjamin Netanyahu had a brother, Yonatan, who was Israeli military and the only solder to die in the Raid on Entebbe. His family released a book of his letters to various people over the years which was really interesting. He actually got to the point where he realized that perpetual war was not the path to follow. He was a patriot and fought for his country but realized that things really needed to change. It would be interesting to be able to know what he would have though of his brother's hard line approach.

(82,383 posts)the First World War - turned out the Belgian babies story wasn't true and was used to get the US into the war.
The first Gulf War had Saddam Hussein's forces killing babies in incubators.
The Israelis are also going to kill Palestinian babies and have in the past.
We need to take a side against all of them, not try to support one or the other. This has been going on for 60+ years at least. Both sides had claimed to be victims and both sides have committed atrocities. The military industrial complex benefits.
