of course that the ultimatum means released alive (formulating such an ultimatum in any other form does not bear considering). Does anyone really believe some of the hostages haven't been killed already?

Maybe from BBC stating that video showed that some hostages were murdered shortly after they were taken.

8. Did you see the hostages being beaten by the bystanders as they were driven through town?

I hate to say it but I don't hold out much hope for the hostages. Besides the brutality of it, it shows a real lack of discipline on the part of the terrorists, or the lack of a concern with keeping them alive - which seems like you'd want to do if trading them for jailed terrorists is your plan. Driving them through town so the locals can hit them with 2x4s doesn't seem consistent with a well thought out plan to keep them alive for later. And I don't think Israel is in the mood for a swap.
