It’s literally terrifying. I’m not Jewish, I became aware of how bad it is by reading up and educating myself on racism. It’s there, right alongside of other horrors. And it exists worldwide. Until anti-semitism is eradicated, we live in a world of terror in so many places—

The posts I've seen on DU helped me get the less overt antisemetism.

Compare and contrast the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the Hamas attack on Israel. Everything Israel says is met with suspicion, there's this attitude of "show me proof" of these atrocities that we just didn't see with Ukraine. I've seen posts here regarding ISrael saying things like, "They always play the victim." "Thats just pro Israel propaganda." "That sounds like a made up story, I need to see pictures."

Israel is one of our closest allies. They suffered a terrible terror attack that killed over 1400 civilians. Yet before the blood was mopped up, we had claims here that they were exaggerating what happened. And I don't think people here on DU realize that the claim Jews play the victims and exaggerate is straight up Neo Nazi propaganda straight from their Holocaust denial playbook.

Why was Israel treated so differently from our other allies when they suffered attacks? Why was everything greeted with suspicion? Why was Israel held to some impossible standard of proof, and then their response has been met with so much push back?

And I get that people care about Palestinian civilians, I do too, but I just see Israel being expected to meet some standard other allies are not judged against. This doesn't mean criticizing the response by Israel is antisemetic, it's just that I've seen what seems like a different standard being applied.

Sorry, but I am not buying into the propaganda. Actual danger and death mean more than a fence.

An Illinois man was charged with stabbing a 6-year-old Muslim boy to death and seriously injuring his mother in what police said was a hate crime linked to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Middle East.

Joseph Czuba allegedly stabbed the boy 26 times with a "military-style knife" and his mother more than a dozen in the incident, which President Joe Biden said "shocked and sickened" him.

"The child's Palestinian Muslim family came to America seeking what we all seek—a refuge to live, learn, and pray in peace. This horrific act of hate has no place in America, and stands against our fundamental values: freedom from fear for how we pray, what we believe, and who we are," his statement continued.

The Justice Department opened a federal hate crimes investigation into the alleged murder of the boy, who was identified as Wadea Al-Fayoume, and wounding of his mother, Hanaan Shahin, according to a statement.

The article was about England.

Do you deny there is antisemitism in England, or even the US.
I don't doubt there is Islamophobia in both countries

The "Nixon Jew count" of July 1971 is the name given to then-President of the United States Richard Nixon's attempts to demote and remove Jews from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).[1]

History

In their 1976 book, The Final Days, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein suggest President Nixon had a history of antisemitic outbursts and became convinced that Jewish employees of BLS were undermining him by negatively altering labor numbers.[2][3]

Orchestrated by H. R. Haldeman, Charles Colson, and Fred Malek at Nixon's behest, a list of 13 employees of the BLS with "Jewish-sounding" surnames was drawn up, along with a list of political affiliations.[1] In a letter to Nixon, subsequently referred to as the "Jew-counting" memo, Malek identified 25 Democrats and 13 other employees who "fit the other demographic criterion that was discussed".[2]

The 13 employees considered to be Jewish were demoted and sent to other positions within the United States Department of Labor, where they were deemed to be at lower risk of causing issues to Nixon.[2][4]

Just about every Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist and Sikh religious space is set well off main roads, behind very high fences and either guards posted or you need someone to buzz you beyond the gate.

This is nothing new. It's only new to people who have more unearned privilege than sense.
