Why are they announcing his travel plans to a volatile war zone? I hope he has a huge security detail on the ground and heightened security for VP Harris. These are extremely dangerous times.
Jesus C, Jordan maybe second in line by Wednesday.

(16,264 posts)TWO carrier groups? Plus 2k troops mobilized? I'm afraid we have some Intel that Iran is going to get involved. Are our carrier groups safe? Look what Ukraine has done to the Black Sea Fleet with no navy and just drones. My belief is that Moscow wants us dragged into a war so we can no longer support Ukraine at the necessary levels. Talk me down.

I agree with you regarding Putin's analysis of the situation vis-a-vis Ukraine... That's how I'd play it on Risk board.

(69,629 posts)like it either. I don't trust Netanyahu. His own people wanted him out due his fraud indictments and trying to change laws that the Israeli Supreme Court adheres too. So when these guys get caught doing something illegal, they want to neuter the law so they can stay in power.

(3,307 posts)..the President definitely should not go to dangerous realities.
Even my neighbor's son said today "Do they really know the accuracy of high-tech drones?"
"Some of the assholes are using them for dear hunting because they're more accurate and you can be
hundreds of yards away"
His words frighten me.
Joe, please don't go.

(43,358 posts)Think Netanyahu couldn't guarantee his safety? Remember when he went to Ukraine during wartime -- and how?
You've got a lot of love to be worried for Joe. I get it.
We just have to have faith that he's going to be okay and do his job as Israel's ally, and as leader of the free world.

(3,907 posts)the US has more fire power in the area than most of the countries around combined. What Israel is threatening to do in Gaza would be mild compared to what we would do should somebody try and go after a US president.

(19,572 posts)Especially at this Puke-weakened point in our government's inability to function. The Maggots are capable of monstrous atrocities. The Maggots are capable of assassinating President Joe Biden in a bid to seize the Presidency. We are in the middle of an ongoing coup. And there will be no way to stop them if they get there.
Netanyahu's looking for a lifeline; and endorsement. Not right now

(1,007 posts)When high ranking officials enter the zone, it really adds more duties to the service members who's plates are full. I would not advise it. Too many missiles in the area just waiting to take out airborne targets.

(23,763 posts)When he went to Ukraine he went over on a regular Air Force plane to Poland then went by train to Ukraine. However, the world did not know about it until he was on his way home.
The least they can do is sneak him out of Andrews in an unmarked jet and have him land someplace friendly then get him on one of our carriers.
I still wish it was not made public

(12,402 posts)I don't get the all of of sudden second guessing and hand wringing, after supposed full support of our President. I am 100% behind my President. I am Not doubting his judgment. President Biden has decades of experience in foreign affairs, including, Israel and hamas. He knows what he's doing! Why the hell wouldn't he have the best security in the world? Same for VP Harris? We spend more on military and security than what, the next 5 to 8 countries combined? No harm will come to Biden or Harris!
ShazzieB
(22,882 posts)Some people here are not giving Biden nearly enough credit, imo. He knows exactly what he's doing, and he knows why he is doing it and what he plans to accomplish. He also knows what provisions have been made to assure his safety. I understand feeling distrustful of Netanyu, but Biden has known him for years and years, and we know Biden is no dummy. I trust Joe's judgment and the judgment of his advisors.
I think he's going to be fine, and I think he's got things in mind that we can't even guess at. Have a little faith in the man, people!

Been away from DU since early today and did not like the talk at all about a proposed POTUS trip.
Thought (and think) POTUS Biden making the trip is of high risk and potential consequences. There is only so much a human can do and the consequences of a tragic outcome unfathomable.
My perception is that POTUS Biden is doing everything possible to keep the war from expanding and stop the killing and destruction.
Trust Joe Biden.
