U.S. says Israel not responsible for Gaza hospital blast; Biden announces unprecedented aid package in speech

"SNIP.........
In a statement Wednesday, White House spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said the current U.S. assessment, based on overhead imagery, intercepts and open source information, found that Israel was not responsible for the blast at the al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza. The Gaza Health Ministry said the strike, which Palestinian authorities have blamed on Israel, killed 471 people. The Israel Defense Forces presented materials that it said showed that the blast was the result of a failed Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket launch. None of the claims could be immediately verified by The Washington Post. Earlier in the day, President Biden, visiting Israel in a show of support for the U.S. ally amid its war with Hamas, announced plans for an unprecedented aid package to Israel, as well as humanitarian aid to Gaza and the West Bank.

(11,042 posts)Can't have two rules, "I can spread stories of dubious accuracy at will, but people on the other side must provide forensic evidence before making claims."
That's not even a kind of passable retort.

(17,757 posts)I don't know, I may never know; I can not see through the fog of war as filtered through the the government and press.
I would feel better if the language was. "A rocket was fired from X in Hamas controlled territory, this was its trejectory, and it hit the hospital." For all I know, Hamas may have sacrificed more or their own people for the cause. I suspect, that it really doesn't make much difference to the dead.
The more things change, the more they stay the same:
"I have seen war. I have seen war on land and sea. I have seen blood running from the wounded. I have seen men coughing out their gassed lungs. I have seen the dead in the mud. I have seen cities destroyed. I have seen 200 limping, exhausted men come out of line the survivors of a regiment of 1,000 that went forward 48 hours before. I have seen children starving. I have seen the agony of mothers and wives. I hate war." FDR
War, huh, yeah

The border is now secure so open the gates and send aid direct to Gaza

(9,725 posts)The US should administer the aid by itself and distribute it directly to Gaza. Bypass Netenhitler completely.
